To qualify as a RM you need to do it with improper tools or without regard to safety or taste.

Nice SHTF knife but the top guard was bugging me. No longer. 30 min with a grinder and voila! Paradord handle? Yeah, that sounds good especially in the cold.

Bonus points if you have you have the trifecta RM The above one meets all three requirements lack of taste, safety and proper tooling to accomplish the dirty deed.

Hand held knife and angle grinder with flap wheel, Black and decker belt sander with 60 grit belt without ear or eye protection other than Gods eye protection in the form of eyelids

Just a suggestion, but if you want a really grippy handle on that knife try Plasti Dip (three dips minimum). Nylon (paracord) isn't exactly known for being grippy. If it were, they wouldn't use it for parachutes.

But I'm not saying that Plasti Dip is any kind of "redneck" mod.

I'm pretty far from this now, so I don't know what Kids These Days are tossing back, but in Tennessee in the 80s it was Sun Drop and moonshine in gallon jugs. Tie the handle to your saddle or 3-wheeler, depending on what you were riding, so you don't drop it.

The replacement pommel nut I ordered for a Marbles Woodcraft had a diameter that was slightly too large. I jammed the nut onto a chopstick, affixed it to my $20 drill, and turned it down on some sandpaper. It was surprisingly effective and efficient.

I've got an Emerson Commander somewhere at home that I reshaped the blade with a diamond file and sandpaper and then chopped the handle length with a wheel grinder. It's a real beauty!
