Post your sheath mods!!

I copied. SLIGHTLY different, but only from stuff I already did. I REALLY like this one. I don't feel the need to resheath it so much now. I like the high-ride option this offers..

(Always use Loctite Super Glue in the blue bottle...accept no substitute! You wont need to do any sewing)

Off topic but is that just duct tape around the handle or something else?

If I had a nickel for everytime I answered that question....I could buy a RBK. Bladeite, can I get my own section in the FAQ?

OK, It is Wilson Tennis Racquet wrap...found most often in the sports section at Walmart. You get 3 rolls for about $2.50. It is the shizznit, especially on the big Becker grivory handles.

Also, FYI...In case anyone else likes the flag patch...regular patches dont fit. That one is off one of those "Tactical Pocket Organizers" that Maxpedition and every company that rips off Maxpedition makes. Actually...I think SpecOps made it first. Had a coyote one too, but that one went better with the OD TADgear skull. I need some new patches...Should probably send an envelope to Uncle Ethan and maybe get some of those Bladeforums ones.

Something else... I believe Tanner uses Tennis Grip Tape.
Can I get the nickel for this one?!?

Here is my mod of my Bk16 sheath.
I didn't like the length of it, so I moved the pocket up, shortened the insert, and trimmed the bottom.
Then I reassembled the sheath, added some eyelets, and dyed it black.

It will have to do tilll I have time to make a leather one!

This is one of the best mods I have seen for this sheath yet. I love the design for the sheath but I too think it is way too big and I do enjoy how you didn't go overboard with the supermods. The black also looks nice. I would love to get my hands on one of those.

that does look nice! more sewing than I could do though :p

I took the badge off, it attracted too much attention just the opposite of what I wanted so will leave it plain. with my shirt bloused over the handle it looks like any ole pouch. added extra paracord wrap, some loops and a little LED light. standardizing little FAKs for all the sheaths now.

Thanks! Glad you like it! I'm Happy with how it turned out. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to put it all back together once I had it in a bunch of pieces. I sewed it all by hand and it was actually easier than I thought.

dangit...I would have kept my sheath if I had saw Dex's mod earlier! That is exactly how the sheath should be!

In case you missed it....What kind of dye did you use, an acid-based? If so, what brand? I know Nick used Rit dye on his and the nylon didn't take it totally.

I used some old water based leather dye that I had sitting around. It seemed to work fine until I washed washed the sheath this morning. Some of the black faded in parts of the sheath. I then dried it and tried some oil based leather dye. It worked a little better but I still was not happy with the results. I ended up finding a little alcohol based leather dye I had left and tried that. It seems to work the best. Once it dried, I rinsed it in hot water and did not get any bleeding of the dye like with the previous two attempts. In my opinion, the alcohol based dye worked the best.

The brand is Fiebings Leather dye. USMC Black.

I will let you know how it works out in the long run.

Here are some pics of how I did this Mod if you are wondering.

Then I trimmed the insert.

Then sewed the pocket on and reattached the insert. I used black upholstery thread because I knew I was going to dye it black.

Here is a side by side comparison to a stock bk16 sheath before I dyed it.

Interesting....It just so happens that I have some of that. Maybe that will be what I use to turn this ridiculous orange cord black on this JAB sheath...

Just tried Dexwithers's dye trick....Using the Fiebings alcohol based black leather dye to dye the Short sheath. It works like a charm! Screw soaking it in Rit dye for gawd knows how long. The nylon just drinks this stuff up. The dye comes with a fleece (or something) dauber for applying the dye. It's a piece of cake. Waiting for it to dry, but it looks nice and even. Excellent trick I'll be saving for future reference. Pics to come.

BLT and dogg,
Thanks for sharing.
That looks like a much better use than tossing it... You may even save me some bucks by negating the need for moo pants.

Who has heated the plastic insert to grip the blade tighter?
Someone said "hot" water - is boiling okay, or should I keep it a little below?
