... and any others that are similar to this steel composition. I like this steel ... a lot

Now ... I KNOW I have a knife made of 154-CM steel and I CAN NOT for the LIFE of me remember which one it is. Maybe one of my fixed blades?

I may have to make a stupid list, yep a stupid list, of my knives if I'm going to forget these little things ... shoot

I'm hoping you guys can jog my memory with your pics and discussion. It's REALLY bugging me ... a lot. THANKS !!!

In the meantime, here's my Northwoods IRJ in CPM-154 and KABAR Dog's Head Coppersmith in 14-4 CrMO which is said to be similar to 154-CM

Robeson scout and Robeson half whittler, both in ATS-34. Nearly identical to 154cm, if memory serves me.

I've got a couple.

Ken Coats Sheepsfoot Jack in ATS-34 (Presumably similar to 154 CM)

Canal Street Cutlery Muskrat in 14-4CrMO

Nice ones Buzzbait !!!
I guess that Scout is a Red Bone? ... but what are they calling the Half Whittler? ... Antique something or other maybe?

I forget the names they give the handle coloring of my knives sometimes too. I guess I really am going to have to make a stupid list ... shoot

Dandy folders right there Rick !!!
How would you compare the steel of those two? Are they even close?
Do you prefer using one over the other?

(All things considered, I know it's not the steel that's as important, so much as the heat treat)

CPM 154 is one of the best all around stainless steels available, I have too many to list(folders and fixed) but here are two,

Doc Hagen Lanny's Clip, Sambar stag and CPM 154

Thanks Jim. Actually, I only use the Coats. The Canal Street is unused by me.

In all honesty, I don't really use my knives hard enough to make a good judgement on the steel. (restrictions at work, long story) I can tell the difference in edge retention between something like 440A and ATS-34 but my guess is that if I had to compare these two I wouldn't have a clue. I do like the ATS-34 as provided by Ken. The heat treat seems top notch.

I almost forgot about my Mike Alsdorf Gunstock Interframe with CPM154 steel.

Kris,
your Menefee dogleg always makes me wish :)
Here are two of mine, Jared Oeser folder in CPM-154 and Rocky Menefee fixed in 154-CM:

Simple understated elegance Fausto !!! No fluff anywhere on those two. I LIKE that

Rick ... I just added Alsdorf to my wish list. NICE

I have a couple to contribute. Every once in a while it's nice not to have to think about staining :) 2014 and 2015 IRJ in CPM 154, and a Bark River PSK in 154 CM.

(wonder if Case makes anything else in 154CM?)
