Anyone else having first class mail delays ? Seems any order have done min 8 days and have one on the way from Charlie JSR, darn thing arrived main post office here, was returned to Cincinnati, now being returned to Houston, looks like may take almost 14 days in all, certainly not JSR's fault just not to mistake topic of post

Priority mail no problem, 2-3 days from anywhere always on time

Appreciate free shipping from many of the dealers and folks in the sales forum but man, happy to pay $3 more for priority

Is it just my bad luck or others seeing the snail mail really snailing ?

Out in Southern California we have a hub in Bell Gardens which we call Hell Gardens. They've lost three packages in the past two years. Two I got weeks later one never was found.

On individual sales have been negotiating priority mail, but some online ordering only first class try to email and ask if can adjust to priority but not always possible

My business (not knife related) ships A LOT of packages via USPS. I have noticed that most Priority Mail deliveries take substantially longer than before, more packages are being lost or delayed and the overall level of service has declined. USPS is still a much more economical option for my business and most individuals, but their level of service has really slipped over the last 12 months or so.

We use to use 1st class mail for orders (Under 13oz) which qualified for free shipping up until early this year. In the past first class was as good as priority mail. Starting in 2015 the US Post Office shut down a bunch of distribution centers and delivery times went from 2-3 days to 6-10 or more days. We now ship all free shipping orders via priority mail and we have very little issues, and most orders are delivered in 2-3 days. It did cause our shipping cost in increase, but the hassles we were having with 1st class mail just wasn't worth the headaches.

I just received a first class package in 2 days from Tuscan to tampa. Maybe I got lucky?

We still had a few go that way. I guess if you still live close to a distribution center you will still get your packages quick. It sometimes took 2 days just to get our packages out of our city.

14 days!........... :)
That's not bad.
Sometimes the snail gets on an oil slick sometimes he gets in a patch of supaglue.

I had a order with a vender that gave free shipping on a traditional .. Not really thinking much about it because so many offer free shipping.. Took about a week and it didn't dawn on me until I saw the envelope it was regular first class. Personally I would rather pay the extra money for priority . Faster service means happy customers .. So for me I am just way more selective with who I do business with.

Haven't noticed any here in western SC. Mail delivery has been consistently excellent for the four years I've lived here. It was great for the eleven years I lived in Rensselaer NY as well. FEDEX, on the other hand, sucks, although perhaps not quite as badly as they sucked back in NY. UPS is ok, aside from almost making me fall a couple times by hiding packages under my mat but not bothering to ring the doorbell.

I have noticed a big change in the way my packages are delivered as well over the past several months....

They used to get to me fairly quickly regardless of the service that was used by the shipper, and by that I mean, once they hit the closest main distribution center to me, they would be at my door within 2 days. It was like clock work.

Now they sit at that distribution center until the 'stated or expected delivery date' of that service, and get to me on or maybe one day before that date.

I ordered a non-knife item from a shop in Wisconsin on Thursday morning, it got to Arizona and was in my mailbox on Saturday. First class USPS. The last knife I ordered was sent from Oregon to Arizona, got to me in 3 days. I think "Postal Zones" differ greatly, especially sorting stations that have been left open. Some are much more efficient and modernized than others. I've been lucky in the last 7 or so years my area has good mail carriers only had maybe 2 issues total.

You would think Houston proper, 6.2 million people of abouts, would be close to a distribution center, oh well so it goes

Some First Class mail seems to get delivered about as fast as Priority while others take 2 weeks. I now ship only by Priority Mail as it is much more consistent although slower than it used to be. I used to hand deliver packages with prepaid postage to an USPS office that was open 7 days a week until midnight and get them scanned in. They cut down the hours and staff and now they refuse to scan them in for me so I have to just drop them off and if I'm lucky they get scanned at the end of that same day. On average they take an additional day from the time I drop them off than they used to but according to tracking they are on schedule because of the intentionally delayed start time.

I have almost zero confidence with the post office here in League City. I have been having problems with them for years and they seem to be getting worse. It is possible that they can't keep up with the population explosion here. On Monday night my mail was delivered just before 9pm.

I've got a first class package shipped from WA state that has been sitting in the sort facility for 5 days, still in WA.
Priority is what I prefer for sure, even if it costs me extra.

In the same boat Jon, patience is a virtue though and I'm sure they'll be worth it
