postal service

I'll toss my 44 cents in here.

Our local PO is great. So was the one where i used to live. The one in the "big" city is not so great. Grumpy clerks.

When I mail packages I use Click 'n Ship. I just walk into the post office and place it on designated spot the counter. No lines. No hassle.

Home mail delivery here is mostly by contractors. No problem.

i use fedex, fast simple and on time- with easy package tracking. I HATE the us post office.... so busy- mean clerks, stupid people who get in one line but dont even need to be in line or arent ready or didnt bring money! Ugh!

I have seen the same thing many times at FedEx and UPS. Morons come in with an object that they want to ship and expect the clerk to do everything for them while the people behind them in line fume. :grumpy:

It amazes me sometimes how helpless people are. They can't even put something in a box without help. I guess their mommas did everything for them. :p

i have had the exact opposite experiences with the usps, and i live in a pretty busy urban area.

they are always helpful, but admittedly seem overwhelmed at times with the amount of customers waiting. they typically have only 2-3 stations open, with an available 6 iirc.

I was just at a Saint Paul PO today and they couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, even though I had what is probably a PITA request. 5 money orders.
Hey, I have to pay for knives and extra hard redwood burl blocks somehow.

well i guess the biggest difference is the humans who work there and the locations.... i live in northern va near dc.... full of jerks and busy slow wits who do nothing all day but be jerky jerks so what can i say? : (

i use small town USPS offices.( aragon, ga. ) i would guess 800 sq. ft. maybe. best service. nice people. maybe its a southern thing. :D

Me too, but at 800 sq ft yours is a lot bigger than ours! My wife went in there to buy 5 rolls of 100 stamps for her real estate office and the postmaster/clerk/mailhandler/janitor/chief/cook/bottlewasher told her she would have to order them! Now my wife always buys them there and the woman stocks enough stamps for her. We hope she got a raise to go along with her increased revenue. We are also NOT on the list of post offices in danger of being closed. :)

I want Saturday delivery and the option of going to pickup or drop off parcels on my day off.
If they were to delete one service day, I'd be happy with Wednesday.

My Post Office is run very well.
