but do ants and rats appreciate the value of a good ATS-34 blade with a G-10 handle and full tang with a high-tech kydex sheath? no? thats why they won't take over. not enough culture or class.

or maybe they are just dying from boredom watching us in our giant "people farm" that they have created for us??

I like the idea of going back to horses for transportation. But it scares me too. I've had horses all my life and after some of the questions I've been asked and some of the things I've seen people do around horses I've found that there's an incredible number of people who are way too stupid to own a horse.
I think there would be about a 3 or 4 year period where we had to rely on darwin's theory of natural selection before it would be safe for all of us folks with common sense to go out on the street

What if everyone just tried to have less kids? Or what about population control laws. Some people might think I'm an extremest, but when you look at things like Steel disappearing, it's hard to deny. It's been estimated by CONSERVATIVE environmentalists that if we keep going the way we are, life will not be viable for humans within 600 years.


On a happier note:
What about Titanium. There's actually quite a bit more of here on Mother Earth than Steel. It should make a nice replacement, but I hope it never come to that.
 
Thanks all. I agree with Stu on one thing: The Earth IS more resilient than most people think. We can't rip the planet apart. Nor can we destroy all life on it even if we tried (I for one am confident the roaches will outlast us. They can take way more heat, cold, & nuclear radiation than we can). What we CAN do is make the planet inhospitable to human beings & most kinds of higher life forms. Hope it doesn't happen.

Pergatory is wide awake, I can see that. Good for you, Pergie! Also, you furnished an idea for another post. See "metal idea" (just to get back on topic!)

The point about many people being to dumb to handle horses is a good one. Figure the first year after the change, there will be an amazing amount of deaths from being kicked when close behind a horse...

Also, I've started looking into backyard knifemaking. I would LOVE to make a few small boot knives & shivs, & give them to friends. Anyone here every experiment with that kind of technology?

I would agree with the population control laws, but have an easier solution: Eliminate the welfare system, and MAKE the recipients of ANY help (food, and basics ONLY for a family of 4 MAXIMUM!!!) get out & clean the litter, do yardwork for the elderly, do the maintenance on public facilities, ect.

It is time to eliminate the 'free ride' in this country. I for one, as a taxpayer, AND a working individual who has been responsible enough to provide for myself,am sick of paying for the morons who think we OWE them something. Get real, and get a CLUE!!!

Ok, while I agree there are exceptions, their should be VERY FEW. You want it?? EARN IT !!!!!!!!!!!
Now, flame away....I'm expecting it.

IMHO that's a little drastic to say the least, I think I have a better idea. We could force them to make cars out of aluminum so that more steel will be available for our knife needs. Besides, horses smell
