Lately, I have seen more than one FS thread started where the seller says that prices are forthcoming. The latest is one where the seller has a few Hinderers for sale and nearly two hours after his post, he still can't seem to decide what the prices are for his knives.

To me, this just reeks of an auction. I can hear the seller now--"Hey, if I don't post prices, then I will just sell to the highest bidder! After all, these are desirable knives and I am sure to generate a lot of interest even without listing a specific price."

I'm sure the rules Spark has in place for the FS forums are there for good reasons. Yet some are either too lazy to read them or too narcissistic to believe that the same rules apply to them.

Seriously, what is so hard about posting a price when you make the post in the first place? You are either ready to sell or not.

Report the posts and we'll take care of it. :)

I have recently. In the past, I have tried to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, but as I say, I think I am starting to see this type of behavior more often. I have no doubt you folks will manage it effectively when notified.

I saw that and thank you. It helps out tremendously when members who actually know the rules report posts.

I have seen this lately as well and the post the OP speaks of with the bunch of Hinderers is still w/o pricing. I plan on selling off quite a bit of what I have shortly and have been doing due diligence to set proper prices as best I can. Who goes through the effort of taking and posting pics and details without having decided on a price.I agree it should be a firm rule and strongly enforced. What I don't follow is how it becomes like an auction?
Does the seller hope people will be pm'ing him with offers from which he can choose?

BF is relatively moderate in it's rules and those it has should be followed.

The post in question was closed by one of the Exchange mods pending correction of the post by the OP.

It is a rule, and when we see it, we do take action. The Hinderer sale was moved offline.

SECTION 2 - Rules/Procedures for Selling, Buying, Trading, & Offering Services:
The implementation of common sense is strongly encouraged beyond this point. This applies directly to the persons involved in the transactions.

Sellers/Selling -
Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item, have it in your possession and clearly list the selling price. There is no "testing the waters" or "gauge buyer interest".

SECTION 3 - Rules for Sellers / Traders / Service Providers (hereafter referred to as "Sellers"):

9. All items offered for sale must be priced. Items being traded CAN NOT list cash value pricing; if you do so your ad will be locked or deleted.

People shouldn't post something for sell if they don't know what they want for it. It states the prices must be listed in the rules. :dunno:

Mods,
Does the price rule apply to the dealers as well? There are many listings in the custom for sale by dealers section that basically only contain a picture and a link to another website for details.

It's different for dealers, if they have a link to their website that has a price then there isn't any problems. Part of the premium they pay is advertising for their website.
