A few weeks ago there was a discussion on posting knife pictures on this site. The general feeling seemed to be that unless it was a WIP that pictures should be posted in the Gallery, and not on this forum.
Personally, I don't visit the gallery forum, and have always enjoyed seeing knife pictures on this forum.
One good reason for posting knife pictures on this forum would be to give credibility to those who post here.
Some members have posted pictures of outstanding knives. To me that shows that they know what they are talking about and when they make a recomendation I tend to pay attention to it.
Other members seem to have very strong opinions on knifemaking, but never post a picture of their work.
I think Seeing forum members knife pictures would tend to validate their opinions.

I wouldn't say the general consensus was to post in the gallery. Many feel this site is a god place for photos of a newly made knife. The post should have info on the materials and methods used.
If you made it in your shop, and want to share the job with your friends here, it is a Shop Talk subject as I see it.

That's what I got out of that thread, too. It should relate to Shop Talk in some way. We have two subforums just for "showing". Shop Talk should delve a little deeper, either technically or like Stacy also added, personally.
