Posting to an old topic, why does this get people angry?

I've learned that if you don't have a thick skin before joining ANY forum, then you'll either develop one or you'll get your feelings hurt and move on. I generally don't revive old threads, but I certainly wouldn't worry about what some grump had to say about it if I did.

Some people are very content in their misery and seem to want to inflict it on others at every opportunity.

Start a thread before comprehensively searching the database to see if you should be posting your query/finding the answer in a preexisting older thread? How dare you rehash a previously visited topic with a new thread, use the search function!

Posting a sub-question/comment in a preexisting but older thread? How dare you resurrect an old thread, start a new one!

Some people are just going to get mad no matter what, happens a lot on the internet. Best to just ignore them and move on.

It's just a lot of control freaks getting bent out of shape over nothing. If you don't want to look at the old thread then don't read it and move on.

I think if you find a great old thread and it really interests you, then by all means post and maybe others who have not seen the thread will post too.
I agree!

Just use common sense when it comes to these necro threads. I've seen old threads resurrected where the OP is asking for suggestions on a knife or other gear and 8 years later someone posts their suggestion.

I would assume the knife or gear has already been bought.

What is the time limit? I didn't want to anger anyone, but I didn't see any harm in posting.

What would be better is to start your own thread on the topic, include a link to the old thread, and discuss what your opinion or stance is on the issue. I'm surprised why people just don't bother doing that in the first place.

I agree.
Or if you are going to bump an old thread say more than "I just got one of those".
