I once had a custom knife made by a famous bladesmith. I gave him a killer piece of amber stag to use on the handle. He took it upon himself to "age" my choice piece of stag with the Potassium Promangenate. Didn't ask, just did it. He ruined the stag, IMHO. It looked like the knife handle had been left laying in a friggin mud puddle or something. Friends don't let their friends use that crap.
