Potential Darwin Award winner

I have been to the area where he has gone missing, not a place for the unprepared and inexperienced in the winter time. Hunters will likely find him in the fall.

This article lays out almost everything that could go wrong with this young man's quest. From mind set, to lack of knowledge, lifestyle to metaphysics. I feel for the family, and hope for a good outcome, but I fear things have already gone wrong.

Finally got around to watching that movie the OP referenced. Wow. Sean Penn clearly was romanticizing this kid like he was some kind of wise philosopher who had found the meaning of life or something. I don't know why people do that. The locals in Alaska thought he was just an unprepared idiot and no more. But a lot of people wanted to make this kind of kid into some sort of modern-day Thoreau. I tend to agree with the locals in Alaska. With all due respect to the dead, I think he was an idiot and no more.

Both the subject of the film and the kid in the foxnews article both deserve Darwin Awards. If this new subject is dead, that is...
