I've got an older Jet benchtop mill, Model JMD-18, and I think I'm going to have to put power feed on it. The old wrist is broke and will still be a problem when it heals up. Does anyone know if those power feeds from Harbor Freight will fit and work on this machine? Any help appreciated. I don't use it a lot, so I don't want to tie up a lot of money for a power feed. Thanks.

Tom, I've got the exact same mill and coincidentaly the same wrist problem. Mine never healed right at all. It hurts to crank that table back and forth.

As long as the HF would fit the table OK, I sure don't see any problems. I've thought of doing this myself on many occasions, but $$ has kept me from it so far.
All that stuff is made by the same companies in Taiwan or China, they just paint them a different color for each distributor.;)

The problem with Harbor Freight would be getting someone to tell me if their unit would work on my Jet. Does anyone have a Jet JMD-18 with an after market power feed unit on it? I sure would like to hear from you if you do. Thanks everybody.

This probably won't answer your question, but I have a Jet milling machine like yours and have a Jet power feed. It works great and I wouldn't want to be with out it.

Tom, HF sells a machine almost exactly like the Jet except for 1.5 hp motor and slightly shorter table. Ask if it'll fit that.

Hi Tom. Sorry to hear of your wrist situation. I also have the JMD-18. I would LOVE to put a power feed on it. Let me know what you come up with. If HF does not suit your fancy, I would suggest maybe contacting MSC, ENCO, or KBC tool and as for a tech to suggest one that will work. I've been meaning to do exactly this myself, but have not had the time.

I just heard from Grizzly and they said their not familiar with other companies machines. They got a little indignant when I said most of them come out of the same factory, just different paint jobs. Oh well, the search continues.

I'm thinking she had to have been quoting you on the mill. That price is outrageous! :D
You would think a Chinese mill would have a powerfeed at Chinese mill prices.

:grumpy:

I thought she was quoting the whole package too, I asked her twice, and she said that was just for the power feed. Somebody on the forum probably has a Jet JMD-18 mill with an aftermarket power feed from one of the cheaper companies, but just doesn't know we're hunting any of them yet. They'll probably come up with a source once they run across this post. I've only seen a couple of posts that weren't answered over the years.

Call the HF tech(LOL) people and ask if their power feed will fit the mill in the link I left above. If it will work on that, it'll work on the Jet.

Look at the picture in the link above, except for the size of the table, it's identical to the Jet.
I wished I'd of gotten one of the HF's with the larger table(they used to offer that one with the same sized table as the Jet) when I bought my Jet. Would have saved hundreds, + freight.;)

Edited to add: the DRO for depth on the front, and the and vise with speed handle are my aftermarket additions. It didn't come that way.

Mike, are we missing a picture? The thumbnail I get is of a Jet mill, there is no other picture. Thanks.
