Practical Functional Alternatives to Thick Wallets

Interesting and something I'm going to think about. I may well do this with insurance cards and similar although they really don't contribute much thickness to my wallet. The picture of the hunting license/fishing license is a good insurance policy regardless.

I am still carrying the passport case/wallet. I noticed that I am looking at wallets in stores now so I must not be satisfied. It is certainly a major deviation from my past wallet carry.

I have progressive for Ins. and they have an app that has both my cars and trailers policy, insurance cards , coverage, etc. I have been pulled over a few times and it was accepted by local and state police so far. I take pictures of my fishing license weather I carry the license or not.

I think as long as the policy number checks out as in force and matches your i.d., they aren't going to give you too hard of a time about it. Only caveat is if your phone fails, out of charge, etc. (but chances of that and also being involved in a traffic stop have to be astronomically low).

I do forget my cell phone from time to time although it has become a somewhat permanent accessory that I carry now. We pay one hell of a lot of money for this convenience. The damned things cost more than computers now. I started making a scanned copy of my vehicle registration and insurance cards and keeping them on one of those things that attaches to your windshield visor. I doubt law enforcement check to see if your insurance is in force unless they have a very good reason to do so. I keep the original copy of the registration in my vehicle file (new vehicle = new file folder) should I need it along with repair or service receipts. These folders get quite thick over time since I keep my vehicles a fairly long time. I drove my last pickup for 15 trouble free years.

I just started using the Big Skinny magnetic money clip slim wallet, and I'm liking it. Holds my licence, 2 metro cards, 2 credit cards, Health Insurance card, a couple of business cards with no issue, and the magnetic clip can hold up to 20 bills. It's nice not having a bulky wallet in your butt pocket anymore. I did have to downsize what I carry in it... don't even miss the stuff.
