I bought a house about four weeks ago. In the process of moving and getting my new place into shape my large Manix has gotten quite a workout. Amongst its recent duties have been:

1. Opening ~60 boxes then breaking many of them down for recycling.
2. Pruning my new plants, including a beach sapling, rose bushes, hedges, a fig tree and a bunch of plants I don't know the names of...
3. Trimming linoleum flooring that was in the way of a pocket door opening/closing properly.
4. BBQ/cooking duty when all my cooking knives were packed in a seemingly invisible box.
5. Cutting the wrap/moving blankets off all my furniture.
6. Cutting open baby tomato seedling flats.

I've really liked my Manix since the day I got it. Now I love it. It is officially my favorite folder after being so handy this past month. I think it can only truly be appreciated by doing hard work with it.

Was curious if it needed a sharpening in the middle of all those duties :)

I touched it up twice with my sharpmaker -- although I just used the white rods -- that returned it to razor sharpness. It was a interesting contrast to my D'allara. I used my D'allara to break down some boxes and tear down a few pieces of furniture in my old apartment before moving. The edge retention of the vg10/D'allara was a lot shorter than the s30v/Manix. This was really the first time I noted a real difference between the two. I think it requires a lot of work to highlight that difference but I now definitely believe in it. I do need to post some pics -- it looks more loved now than when I got it. It has held up real well though.
