I haven't been around here in a while, perhaps because of the depression over losing my precious Buck 110 with the BG-42 blade swap. It had become my constant companion around the house and my most used knife.

Then I lost it.

Until this morning. It was chilly enough in the house to need a jacket this morning. When I grabbed the fleecey from the back of my computer chair, I noticed an unusual weight in the pocket.

You guessed it . . . my pocket had been full of Buck 110 goodness since last winter!

Woo-hoo! It's like finding money in your pocket, only better!

:D

Way to go Rhino.Good to have you back. And glad the BG-42 was not lost after all.

I have that problem, too...and every time I go to the closet and pull out a different jacket, I find a five dollar bill in the pocket... :(

(That means someone was out clubbing in it...but it wasn't me...) :grumpy:

We always find stuff in the last place we look! Heh.

I knew that Buck wasn't going to do the blade swaps anymore (thus the precious nature of mine!), but do you mean that they won't be doing BG-42 at all, even for the custom shop knives?

And I had a thought along those lines as well . . . what happens if I break the blade I have now? Will Buck replace it with a similar premium steel blade (for a fee, of course!), or am I out of luck in that event? It's purely hypothetical, so I haven't bothered Joe H with a frantic e-mail about it. Yet. :D

I was duck hunting on Chesapeake Bay with Iceman when he found a knife (spydie) in his cold weather hunting coat that he thought he'd lost. That was/is cool.

Congrats on finding the misplaced 110.

A good omen... perhaps my 'lost' new BG-42/G10/Micarta's replacement will be 'discovered' on my doorstep today. I sure hope it's not really 'lost' in the USPS - or UPS - however Pete sent it. I guess he sent it... he called and left a message he had received my defective one...

I spend countless hours here looking for my car keys or reading glasses, often finding them in my hand. Knives are always once lost, forever lost here - inside the house - and never to be 'found'. Thus far, this house has eaten three old SAKs, a peanut folder of my Dad's, and my first 110. One day, I'll go through all of the old coats and jackets pockets - maybe even my old USN peacoat, too (I probably haven't fit in it since Nixon was President....).

Congrats on your find!

Just out of curiosity, how much does the labor on a blade swap run these days? I know what the cost of the blade is (approx. anyway), but I'm wondering what it runs to send in a 110 to have say a S30V blade installed. Anyone have this done recently?

I'm gonna say it since noone has... Dontcha HAte when that happens!!!
Congrats on the find, I think i know where all my sharp pointy objects are, but just in case i'm gonna go look thru all my pockets anyways.

Well, my overdue BCCI BG-42/G10/Micarta 110 showed up last night - UPS delivered it at 6 PM!

And, Thursday evening saw me finding two pair of readers within seconds... as I watched Auburn getting routed by WVU on the tube. I heard a crunch in my recliner, reached down to find a mortally wounded pair... stood up, dropping another pair on the floor and stepped on them. Two pair found - and trashed within seconds! Back to the 'Dollar Store' today...

Hey, at least I have a sweet replacement for that original knife. The MIA knives remain on my list...

Let's make sure everybody sees that...
Wait...let me bookmark this page...
yes:rolleyes:i know:foot: ...
all things buck are subject to change!!:foot:
they were not going to do the 112 as a custom knife either:foot::
then it was any spechality steel long:foot: as long as it was s30v:foot:
then there was the custom shop mess:foot:
does it taste any better with salt?:foot:
but i still stick with my team even on their bad days:foot::D

I guess in my several year hiatus from here I missed "the Custom Shop mess." I'll assume that's why it's no longer called "Pete's Custom Knife Shop" (PCKS) - which I believe is not in reference to the current Pete that seems to be the gent in CS that has been taking all my orders lately. Someone can please feel free (or not) to fill me in via PM on all that went down - if you like.
