I have a very good friend and a teacher, he is a Cherokee Medicine Man, raised and trained in the traditional way. One of the last of his kind (if not the last for Georgia and Tennessee). His name is Grey Eagle. I love him like a father.

He had received two brown recluse spider bites over the last several years, and has had a tremendous amount of trouble from them. Yep, that's not one but two bites from brown recluse spiders on the same leg.

He just had surgery yesterday morning to try to keep his leg, and now he has just been told that he will have to have surgery again on Friday morning. They are going to try to find a good vein in his arm, and place it in his leg from his knee to his foot. They could not find any that were not damaged in his leg when he had surgery yesterday.

Please send up smoke and pray for him. I can not tell you how much gratitude I have for any prayers for him.

Thank you,

David

Of course, David.

You need not have gratitude. This is what we do: protect our own.

Be well and safe.

The brown recluse is no joke. They are the only type of spider that's "kill on sight" in my home. (Their fault, not mine. I never bit any of them, did I?)

Best wishes to Grey Eagle. Getting bit once is bad enough.

Will do. Like Kismet said, we look after our own ( at least we try )!

Consider it done. That's one hell of a set of injuries, it makes me cringe just thinking of it. :(

I will pray for him tonight. I also hate spiders. We have tons of black widows and brown recluses also. My youngest daughter was bitten on the leg by some unidentified spider when she was 4; she had a wound that eventually was much bigger than a silver dollar, had big pustules and the skin sloughed off leaving craters. We faught with it for at least 6 months, numerous trips to the doctor,etc... :grumpy:

Grey Eagle is definitely in our prayers, David. Having more or less recovered from the effects of a Black Widow, I know a little bit about spider bites. The Black Widow, so I was told, is bad, but not in the class of the Recluse as far as tissue damage & other wonderful side effects. I can't imagine having to deal with two of them.

Smoke will be sent tonight in as close to the traditional way as I can...

Champaka Smoke tonight for Grey Eagle. :(

Brown Recluse bites are horrible... leaves a huge crater in your skin & has complications. Very dangerous. Even our Scorpions do less harm than that.

AA :(

Thank you!

His wife called me last night. There is an IV machine that they have him on, it beeps when he moves, and wakes him up, so he's calling it the Rooster.
He's not too excited about a second operation.. who would be..
I'm going to go stay with him tonight. I'll let you know how he does after tomorrow.

David

Thoughts and prayers are going up, David. Two BR bites has to be really nasty. Best wishes to you both.
