Dear Friends-
The hearing went o.k. The prosecution has asked the judge for Will to be one year in jail and a fine. We asked for a deferred Judgement... THE JUDGE WILL TAKE IT ALL INTO ADVISEMENT AND MAKE A RULING AND LET US KNOW... this could take a week?? who knows??
I do not feel the prosecution was fair, they brought up items which out of the negotiation agreement (which they initiated) were agreed would NOT be brought up... we had conflicting evidence regarding these items... but because Will was NOT ON TRIAL TODAY...it was inappropriate to bring up... this was a sentencing hearing - not a trial. Our attorney was frustrated with this, as were we. It leaves a sour taste.
Regardless, we all need to get on with forgiveness and peace building. I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL for your kind support in thoughts and prayers, presence and letters.
There were over 45 letters of support for Will and at least 30 people present on Will's behalf. We have all suffered and learned lots though this year... about the justice system, about not speaking to police without an attorney present, about calling the police when your "gut" says you should, about always walking away when possible,,, even if someone FIRST throws a punch at you (although my Dad would never agree about this!),,, about always being careful the words you say.. so they are never interpreted the wrong way... about the love of good friends, family and God who are always there to see you through troubled times... and about starting on a walk to FORGIVE - so there is no imprisonment or grudges in our minds. Thank you all so very much!
We continue to pray for a deferred judgement...
THANK :YOU ALL FOR YOUR WONDERFUL SUPPORT.

note from Jess:
Thanks all and I will do my best to keep you informed on the situation as it progresses...
God bless
