Prayer Request

My heart and prayers go out to such a dear friend of yours!! Good thoughts to her.

Thank you everyone for the warm thoughts and prayers.

Unfortunately, Betty's surgery today was unsuccessful. The surgeon put her in a twilight sleep for the surgery and went in through her femoral artery. I'm extremely exhausted so I can't really remember everything that the surgeon told me right now. What I can say is that after the surgery, Betty kept rambling on and on about how excruciating it was for her. At the time, I wasn't sure whether to believe what she was telling me, or if it was the drugs that were talking. When the surgeon came in, I asked him if it was true that she was in "excruciating" pain.

He said that he had to stop the surgery because of all of the pain she was experiencing. The surgery lasted three hours. The surgery when done successfully lasts about the same amount of time. Betty went through three hours of terrible agony before he stopped. It was one hour for each try. How does that happen in this day and age? Why the pain? It's really upsetting. To make matters worse, Betty kept telling me that the doctor gave up before she did. She really tried to stick it out. Now, she has to go through the same exact surgery a second time. But this time they'll put her under general anasthesia. I really can't believe that she has to do this whole thing all over again.

On a good note, she went home tonight in her usual good spirits. She's such an amazing person. When they told us that she was being released, we were pretty worried about it. It seems they only planned on keeping her for observation if the stint and coils were in place. Since they didn't get them in, she was out the door. Two weeks recovery, and then they'll try it all over again. :grumpy:

Anyhow, I appreciate all of the prayers. I'm on about three hours of sleep right now, so I'm heading to bed. :(

I'm sorry to hear that, jennifer. I will keep the prayers going for the next time.

Best wishes and prayers from my entire clan (a rather large one).

May the situation improve, in all ways.

Best from Ole Virginny.
