Prayers for my Pitbull

Prayers are with you and your pup!

1/3 of the puppies in my dogs litter died from parvo. It was so sad to just watch knowing there wasn't anything you could do.

Yeah man you gotta calm down a little bit. Not just for your sake, but for your pups as well. Step back, take breath, etc.
I get you are upset and fustrated, God knows I would be too.

oh, + 1 on the booze/weed thing. Not acusing you, just sayin I can relate, and yeah booze will amplify the emotions.

Hang in there bro!

It was so sad to just watch knowing there wasn't anything you could do.

This is the worst part. I hate being helpless. I've been pretty good at dealing with problems. I just can't deal with seeing what was for 2 days a vibrant pup now getting worse right before my eyes.

CM - The first thing you need to do is remain calm. Yelling at the top of your lungs is not going to help your dog. If you can't get the meds into her then you should contact the vet. All it will take is a phone call. Follow the vet's advice and keep your cool. Try and keep her comfortable. If I was feeling really bad the last thing I would want around me is someone who won't stop screaming. Not meaning to give you a hard time here. I'm just sayin'.

Right now... I could give a rats rear about any knives I'm waiting on, the NWO, bilderburgs.... none of that. I just hate seeing my dog hurting.

CM,
Calm down, your emotional state is not going to help her at all.
Be calm and reassuring, If you need to take her back to the vet to have him help you administer the meds if you are unable to emotionally handle it. Make sure she keeps hydrated with the ringers, this is the most important.

Try to give her the pills in a small treat, something she will definately like.
If that wont work get the pills alone into her throat and gently hold her mouth shut until she swallows.

What is going on is the parvo causes her intestinal tract and stomach linings to become irritated and inflamed. worst case it sloughs off and is vomited or crapped out, this is when it is serious and usually fatal.
She may not feel like eating at all and you will have to bear with her.
you need to let her stomach and intestines rest, get her hydrated and medicated and then start her on a bland diet after a few days, rice is the best for this.
Your vet is the best coach for this and is a phone call away. Most vets will be understanding and give you pointers over the phone.

Make sure you use bleach, natures miracle orange oxy power (w/ enzymes) or whatever your vet recommends on the areas where she has defacated or vomited to prevent spreading it around. If you can throw it out, bleach the heck out of it and throw it away. if you can burn it, do so.

You both are going to go thru the worst week or two of your lives. There is no easy fix to this. If you think you feel bad imagine how mary feels. keep yourself calm, stressing mary out can worsen her condition. Do not make any rash decisions.

What i'm telling you here is coming from my own personal experience with this and from the merck/merial manual for pet health.
There is a myriad of info availbale to you online. but your vet is the best option.

Ok... I'm a little more calm. The wife went to the vet for some rigs full of anti-vomiting meds. I just gave her a hit of that in the hindquarters. Since this was an IM hit, hopefully this will be better than the oral stuff.

I'll hang in there.

I didn't read every post but all I saw was the words adoption and pitbull and I got to say you are a good person! Good for many reasons by not buying a dang dog and adopting and most importantly saving a life! All i have to say, hope the best!

Thank you all for your prayers and positive vibes

She has been off the anti-emetic injections for 2 days and is eating and drinking like both wear going out of style! She's been dropping solid turds for 3 days now. She's a total spazz who does not know the meaning of the word chill!
