Beautiful, flawless, excellent lite weight, mitt-filling lockback from out of the past. Throw your arms around a collector ASAP and hug them with a will for their aiding safe time travel of stuff right into the future.

Nice pics as usual Oregon:thumbup:
I have yet to get my mits on one of those versions, but it will happen!
Thanx for sharing...

I like the Valox scales on the 1st versions. They seem more eronomic in the hand and more rugged than the next version.

Sit,

I cannot imagine richer plastic nor a more robust light-weight large (just under 8.75" overall open, 3.75" blade and 3.39 oz) lock back (my preference of locks) folder with finger grooves.

Ima,

This is superior valox. The good stuff. Did you notice the steel pins? Not brass. Steel.

Ly,

Yes it is nice. And, well, errr, thank you for asking but not just yet. Oogling still in progress! Even the sheath glows richly.

Cool pictures Steve. Funny you should show that one. A couple of days ago I went through my few Bucklites and figured out that one like yours is the only design that I don't have, I'm on the lookout for one now. Thanks for posting the pictures.

I have my original from say 1983-84 that my dad gave me for Christmas. It's the green one with the camo nylon pouch sheath. I still take it hunting with me 30 years later.

Yours is in better shape than mine, an hey I have a dot after the model number and brass pins....300

Plumb,

I can read your mind, BTW, so I know where the gaps are. Your collection is missing only one knife! You are almost there then.

Planet,

Great story of a terrific folder. I'm not alone here when I say that I'd love to see a pic or two of your vintage 426. Love those gifts from the ones I love because when I look and handle a knife my big Sister gave me I can see here clearly in my minds eye. Memory triggers aren't they.

300,

Mine, from a collector, just had a high-test alcohol bath along with fancy Q-tip cleaning, soft cotton rub down and TufGlide metal preservation. My spa treatment. Photographed outside in the late summer sun brings out the beam, the inner knife, the joy of being a Buck knife, a knife made with a will and a way.

Yours has the brass pins that really set rich tone for the overall look. A tiny bit of amonia on a Qtip and they will dazzle and shine.

Oregon, Great pics like always... That's a sweet 426... I'm not sure if I have one with the steel pins... Good find... I going to have to watch the bay more... Can you post those pics on my thread with all the Bucklites... Thanks... ITE ...

The 426 was first introduced in Buck's 1984 catalog. It had a drop point blade and maroon handle. They were stamped BUCK, 426, U.S.A. It is entirely possible to find a knife from this time stamped the same, but with a tiny dot after the model number. The dot tells us that the blade was fineblanked rather than conventionally blanked.....I think...and the stamping with the dot was used up until we added date code marks in 1986....I think....
In Buck's 1985 catalog the 426 is offered with the standard clip point blade. Another option is that the handle is now offered in olive drab or maroon.

Thank you ITE. So this one is from 1984 and not fine blanked.

No dot on this one after the "426" and I've looked using my lit loupe.

300, I blew up your pic to see the dot and it is clearly there (indicating that yours was fine blanked). Yours is a 422, BTW.

Yep, I have a few of those with that handle design on my "watch list". It won't be long until I fill that gap. I'm not a real "huge" fan of the Lites but I would like to have a representative sampling of each version.

Ok, I can mark that one off my list. I just got this 422 so now I have at least one of each handle design.

That one looks really good and the brass pins to boot. That looks as new! Love that color. Its helpful to have the sheath. WTG.

I carried a woodland camo Bucklite when I first went into the Army, I carried it in Hawaii when I was assigned to 25th ID and CILHI, I can't remember what I did with it, may pick up another Bucklite some day.

Thanks Steve. I don't know if I'd call it mint, but it looks to be in good enough shape to display if needed.

Would love to see a picture of the drop point variant.
