Pre-SHOT Show New ZT and Kershaw

I am not a fan of Kersahw's tendency to terminate the swedge about a half inch from the tip. Kinda defeats the purpose of having one to begin with and I don't like the looks of it, especially from looking from the perspective of the spine down. The blade goes from thick by the pivot, to thinned out, to thick again until it tapers to a point. Leaves a thick triangular profile right at the tip. They seem to do it on almost every one of their folders, which typically have some weird profiles to begin with. Instant turn off for me.

After taking the pardue handle from bm to hogue, doug as no room to complain about similar bade shapes, imo.
Just to clarify, do you mean Doug didn't have the right to take it to Hogue after Benchmade discontinued the mk1?

I think if I'm a teenager or a broke guy starting out in the work force I like some of these Kershaws, but I've become a bit of a steel snob and I'm a bit leery of cheaper, mass produced Chinese knives in D2. That stuff can be a bit more finicky in the oven. If Autos/OTFs were legal where I live I'd like this lineup better.

With Zero Tolerance, the new fixed blade looks great, but at that price I've got other fixed blades I've got more interest in. Also it feels strange buying a fixed blade from them, but still not quite as strange as Fallkniven selling folders: "You're not my fixed blade guy! You're my chunky folder guy." I'm still holding out hope that ZT goes back to doing some great collaborations with top designers.

The only difference in the blade for this Heist is the material and goofy swedge. The shape is dead on with the Ritter.

As far as the rest goes it's a hard pass for me. I haven't been a kershaw fan in a long time. Last one I bought was a Leek and gave that away quicker than the edge on that thing dulled. The only line of KAI I like is ZT and until they start going back to the roots with the overbuilt tanks that made them awesome I'll pass on them too. I have the only 2 I will ever need or want. The 350 and the 562. The rest it all just seems they are trying way too hard to innovate.
It is a drop point... the main distinctive features you see there aren't even copied on the Kershaw. You can only own so much...

Right?!? And it’s gotta be the most basic, generic knife shape there ever was.
It’s not like that whole Natrix/Matrix mess between KAI and Microtech lol
