Precision Grinding

I need to have CPM-154 steel precision ground. I don’t have a grinder. I can’t find anyone who does this in the Orlando area. Does anyone know where I can get done at. I am willing to mail it off for grinding. I already called New Jersey Steel Baron and USA Knifes.

Any ideas would be great.

Sheffield’s Supply in Orange City has it. Call Ann or Michael 800-874-7007. Might be cheaper in the long run just to buy it PG, in lieu of machine shop fees.

I frequently see Jantz "out of stock" on large thick pieces of precision ground CPM 3V, so I'm interested in seeing some of the answers.

It seems impossible to find that stuff precision ground. If you have a lot of parts and need accuracy you might want to go with a double disc grinding company... lots of options besides that too.

My magnetic chuck on my surface grinder is only 24” long but it is 8” wide.

I use a surface grinding shop here in PA ... I'm sure there is one closer to you. Have you searched google or ThomasNet for "plate grinding" ?

Aldo will grind the decarb off his steels and it becomes pretty much precision ground. It isn't much extra cost. If you need an exact thickness, let him know, he will shoot for it when grinding.
