Hi, all. I was off for a week as I visited D.C. for my job.
After getting my things be done, I was wandering
along Potomac river and saw this.

Sorry for poor photo, I took this through my binocular.
As you see, red-tailed hawk is praying on something.
Though it's not depicted, it was a squirrel I saw when other red-tailed
tryed to snatch it from this bird.

It was only a 2 hours of walk. I don't think I am too lucky that
this kind of event is quite frequent I guess.
So impressive for me because even watching raptors in a city area is quite
rare, not to mention their predatory scene in Japan.

Thanks for looking.

Cool shot man.

When I was working in NYC(about 6 years ago), I was sitting in Central park eating lunch. When a peregrine falcon decided to swoop down and take out a pigeon. Kind of nasty, but really cool to watch.

Awesome!
Last year when I was downtown, I had the pleasure of seeing a Coopers hawk fly by me with a large Grackle in its grasp.......he had the dead Grackles head pointed forward for aerodynamicness....it was cool!!!!

Very cool shot. There is nothing quite like watching birds of prey.

How did you take that picture through your binoculars? The few photos I've done this with (by holding my camera up to one eyepiece of the binocular) have been really horrible. Even in the best, the subject (a pileated woodpecker) was only barely recognizable.

Were you just holding your camera up to your binoculars or do you have some sort of adapter?

Thank you all for replies.

Peregrines... How much I love them !

Here's a photo I took this year. Mother Peregrine is taking her lunch.

Nothing special. just put camera lens to one of the eyepieces.
Focus of binocular should be adjusted so that the AF of camera can
work and adjust to get sharp (relatively, I mean ;) ) image but as
it's trivial that you should have done it already. Sorry I couldn't help.
My binocular is Fujinon 8x30 FMTR.
