Preemptive impulse buying—has that happened to you before?

If you go to the for sale section and something is a really good deal and you wait any amount of time it will sell. if it is not that great of a deal it will be around for long enough to decide if you want it or not. Waiting like 24 hours that someone mentioned above is probably a good idea.

The impulse for me is most often driven by pure FOMO. The Rex 121 Sage 5 is a good example. I saw it had dropped, but figured I could wait as I wasn't crazy about the price. When I noticed about a week later that it had sold out at my usual retailers that's when the FOMO kicked in. Decided I'd better hunt it down at one of the second tier retailers rather than miss out on a steel that I might not get another chance with on a platform this good.

If it's a good knife and I wan't it or need it and it's $50 to a $100, I don't think too much about it. But if it's more, I let my brain do its thing. Eg small fixed blade blanks from Brisa recently.
