Preference in Clip Blades

I like em a bit stouter. I would love a Lanny's clip, but I am good with Schrades 8OT. Just do not turkish clips or toothpick versions.

Re: post #12: Flymon, that is the definitive clip blade and the definitive shield. Perfection. Now that I have complimented you on your impeccable taste, please give me your Northfield stag slanted bolster stockman. Thanks! :D

I agree with your assessment, and the credit goes to the maker, Kerry Hampton.
Sorry, but I sold the Cuban Stockman :(. It was just too big in the pocket for me, so I bought a GEC Scout Trapper instead .

And you are correct comoha, that is a Lanny's Clip.

I like both types but slightly prefer the pointy style. I find it works a little better for piercing cuts and gives more control in detailed cutting.

That is by far the best looking Gunstock I have ever seen.
+1 on that. The gunstock looks great in a shadow pattern.

I'm partial to the long slender clip as exemplified by the Case 048 Slimline Trapper.

Rick - that KC Toothpick is just exquisite!

Stout. Wide. Shaped like the blades I grew up with. Like this one:

Am I correct in saying that is a Lanny's Clip? I really like them, a little beefier but still with all the geometries of a true clip point.

Here's a strange version of a clip. Not sure what it's called. I never was too fond of it but I thought I'd share for interest's sake. A 1981 Queen Gunstock. Notice the nail nick on the curve versus on the straight part of the blade.

This Case pre 70's barlow has the same thing. The nail nick is on the curve. Sorry for the bad picture.

Good call on the stockman clip Knarfeng. Always liked the narrower waist and deep chestedness of those.
Like Jayne Manfield. :D

Clip, is, I'd have to say my favorite blade style. Well executed it can be long, narrow and strong, fine pointed, lots of straight edge, and still have some belly... Get the best of all needs in one blade...

Is there a Choice C? My favorite is the long Turkish clip, like the style found on Laguioles. I find it the most aesthetically pleasing.

Me too. Or like in a muskrat. Not necisarilly a narrow blade, but the clip started about 3/4 of the length from the tip. And that Howser is close to my preference, although I do like a bi more curve to the top than that(or it might just be the angle and the swedged nail nick distracting my eye from the shape-- that nick looks odd like that)

What I don't like are the ones that not only curve up from the tip o about 1/2 way, but also taper from he tang to the 1/2 way point...too wide/high a that point, with an abrupt point where the two lines meet above the nick. Like the average large stockman, or my Case moose comes to mind, it does this mildly. Or, like the Remington and that '81 queen above

I'd really like to find/see a clipped skinner blade... skinner blade like whats usually the secondary blade in large folding hunters, a short tip curve(small radius) on the edge, but a 7/8 length curved clipping of the back to provide a little more fine tip point but without narrowing the blade much. Almost ending with what you'd call a trailing point clip... Love that turkish muskrat, a little more bellie at the tip and it'd be about perfect.
