Preferred camp shoes?

I like those Sanuks a lot!

Give 'em a whirl! Mine are made of sturdy canvas with double stitching. I've worn them in water a lot, you can swim with them on, and they're pretty quick to dry (even if you don't take them off.) They're also very light and very stowable in the pack. Super-comfy and convenient slip-ons.

They don't look like ballet shoes, either... ;)

Used to be Tevas and then swithched to Keens. That toecap really makes a huge difference in avoiding injury. If I am packing light then either nothing or a pair of mocs. When sitting around I like to be barefoot in order to really let the footsies breath.

I wear a pair of Sorel Men's Manawan mocs

I wear them at camp, around the house, and on quick jaunts to town. They are comfy and light, as well as warm in cool weather.

I'm waiting for the radler camp moc to become available from Timberland. They are made of canvas like material, and fold up in half and zip shut to minimize the space they take up...

Those sound awesome!

BTW, the "beautiful hag" in your signature line, I remember my first textbook on psychology and it had that in there. I was mesmerized by that same drawing. :D

I wear crocs around camp...I have a pair of ventilated ones for warm weather and a pair of solid lined ones for colder weather.

That's where I first saw her, too... "Beautiful Hag"... I haven't heard that before, but I like it! That lesson shifted some paradigms for me forever. Even if you think you see a situation with total clarity, someone else might see something totally different, and you might both be right...

JGON

I would wear anything BUT those! Sorry, but if I walked up on you out on the AT or something, it would be a laugh fest.
LOL.
I would set my radio to AM, tune in the classics and see if you started prancing around camp.

Just busting your ball Bro. LOL. You are a Brave SOB to post that picture here, and I like that.

since I've gone to lightweight trail runners for backpacking I don't pack camp shoes anymore :)

Mors looks pretty comfy there :D

Same here, in the summer anyway. I have a pair of custom Hersey runners with the hiking soles added. Tough, grippy and SUPER comfortable. The construction of these is something I have no doubts about! If you factor in the durability, the cost is CHEAPER than other store bought running shoes. They last 5x's as long and can be RE soled many times. Not bad for a sneaker.
I have known the owner of the company (who also makes each pair by hand) for over 20 years, and he really CARES about your feet. I suffer from back and knee issues, and his shoes have made a HUGE difference in my life.

No prancing, buddy, it's all about form over function!

In all seriousness, I bought the Toms Shoes because I liked the idea that for every pair you buy the company donates a pair to a needy kid in a third-world country. Great idea. Only problem was when they actually shipped them to me, I opened the box and took one look, and thought  "What the f*** am I gonna do with these things??!?" LOL. But they really are perfect camp shoes. I'll try and redeem myself on my next backpacking trip with a slightly less fruity shot, which shouldn't be too hard heh.

I know! I was just joking around. LOL.
I am still on the look out for some really good Moccasins. I have never found any that wouldnt break the bank though.

I (regretfully) brought my Tevas on my last backpacking trip. They were way too heavy for the amount of use they received. They were also too bulky to fit in my pack so were strapped to the outside. My brother carried a pair of water shoes he purchased at WalMart for $7. They were light, flexible, comfortable around camp and great for water crossings.

I would like to have the hard-soled Apache style mocs, but they are darn hard to find.
For now, I use Crocs, with a covered toe. They at least give me rudimentary protection when I get my feet in the wrong places.

I've been bashing around in my FiveFinger treksports (the ones with the bit of lug to the sole) and love them, super light, and a little rinse after a hike and I'm good to go for the evening.

I like the below ones – light, amphibious, just enough to protect the sole from mild jagged stuff, relatively grippy on green slimy stuff, fast drying, and quick to don for when you just have to crimp off a deuce in the middle of the night.
