So me and my son were taking out the recyclables,

and a guy that lives 5 or 6 houses down hollered "hey you"

SO i said "yea, whats up man?"

And he says "you know how to make a good resume?"

And i say, "not particularly, but there are lots of sites online that can help with this"

And he says, "Nah i dont wanna do da $hit on a puter"

And i said "well, there is a place by the court house that will help you make a resume for free"

And he says "nah, i aint tryin to go no where for this $hit"

I stop talking at this point because i dont want to escalate a problem but some people are just pathetic. its going to be real hard for him to get a job if he wont go online or go anywhere LMAO

When I was in college I worked part-time at a convenience store. One dingbat who lived two blocks away was so lazy she sent her 8-yr-old kid down to the store to ask for a job application for her to fill out. I told him "Nope, she's gonna hafta come get that herself." I didn't see her again until the first of the month when she was in buying her usual smokes, beer and lottery tickets. :rolleyes:

With regards to the "Talon Hole," it's the fact that there's something that might resemble a hole that's trademarked, evidently. I believe I mentioned earlier that Jerry and his lawyers came down on me when I made the suggestion I could fill a hole I'd drilled in the guard with a mosaic pin. He said it accentuated the feature, I said it was like calling a stained glass window a hole in the wall, or calling inlay a hole. So an oval hole wouldn't fly with Jerry. He'd have the lawyers all over you. He makes a damn fine knife, but he's not the kind of knifemaker I'd love to meet and hoist a few with. No hate, just recognition that his brand of business isn't for me. Uncle E, on the other hand...

Been a little absent lately. Started off with work being crazy. Now the opposite problem is true and I find myself looking for a job for the first time in almost six years. Life goes on, and thankfully I have a little something to keep me going until I find a new job, and the old lady thankfully doesn't make terrible money, but still, job hunting sucks after so long out of it.

Oh well, such is life. The missus also decided we are buying her mothers old house, so we will be moving this month as well, but after all that, I should slow down enough to where I can be here more and take care of things a bit better.

I hear ya. He used to come in and want to take money out of the take-a-penny-leave-a-penny dish on the counter to get some candy. He honestly did not understand why I wouldn't let him do that. It wasn't the greatest neighborhood (obviously, they generally don't put c-stores in the nice subdivisions) but most of the local people worked their behinds off at whatever job they could get and pretty much left everyone else alone. There were a few real... pieces of work, though. There was one dude we had to run off once or twice a month, panhandling drunk in front of the store for more beer money, stuff like that.

Sorry to hear that, D. You are correct though, such is life. The "full catastrophe" as it's been referred to. Good luck with all your new endeavors. I will admit, I was on disability. My father currently is. I did everything I could to get off of it until finally I was able to. I don't care if you give me $500 or $5000 I want to work and earn it. For those that need it, it is a very good safety net. However it does seem to be very taken advantage of.

My point is, disability, medicare, pension & other support systems for the unable to work are very different from welfare which is what that lady was talking about. And being rather bold about it, from what I listened to. Whatever, in every system there is the potential for abuse.
 
Thanks for the good wishes all. Really though I know I'll be okay. And I'm hoping this can land me something that is a bit more stimulating and satisfying. That being said, what have I missed? I missed all but like two pages of the last chat thread and this one flew by in record time. Anything exciting going on?

Everyone got new knives. Some of them got more than one. LOTS more. Some people sold their old knives. Others traded their knives. Lots of talk about knives. Other stuff happened,too, but that story is too long, too intricate and way too tawdry to go into right now. You'll hear rumors, some of them may be true. Some not.
In a word (or rather, in two words), nothing much.
