I just managed to wrap up all of my leather work from the last batch of blades, and am concentrating on wrapping up as much commission work as possible until the move into the new home my fiancé and I just purchased. Big thanks again to everyone who helped me out with strong sales towards the additional we needed for the down payment. This is the first piece from my new HT batch. I wanted to get at least one blade posted this week, and picked this one to finish out. I will be posting more blades after this, but most likely not until next week until I get all of my urgent projects finished.
I was able to secure a few more pieces of this premium grade ironwood burl at a decent price, so decided to pass the savings down on this blade; I figured I'd do one last discounted piece before I switch back to my normal pricing schedule. This is the chubby version of the field knife pattern that I added recently.
This blade is done in my upgraded (or "premium") finish level, 800 grit satin polish on the blade, and 1200 grit with hand buff on the handle. Another feature I try to include on these blades is the sterling silver pins, which this one does have.
Tang is tapered and skeletonized for weight savings and improved balance. Liners, scales, pins are secured with G-Flex epoxy, and pins are lightly peened. This desert ironwood is nearly bulletproof, so even though this is a bit fancier piece, it still is meant to (and able to) be used hard. I feel like this blade came out the perfect size and weight for a primary trail/hunting knife.
The ironwood burl scales are sculpted for comfort. This premium burl has a beautiful even figure, and strong chatoyance with rich color.
CTS-XHP @ 60, .157" at thickest point
Near zero full flat grind, full distal taper
3.75" edge length, 8.75" OAL
Premium Arizona Desert Ironwood Burl w/white G10 liners and sterling silver pins
5.0oz
$199 shipped, price includes buyers choice of premium leather sheath
(the dark spot by the pin is not a chip/shadow, it is the coloration of the wood)
