Premium knife

Do it.

Just ask your wife for a budget and how many are allowed first :)

Of the several premium knives I have, my CRKs cut best. Now, I prefer Zaan and Inkosi over Sebenza, but that might be just me. The Inkosi is basically an overbuilt Sebenza with double lugs from the get-go. Just saying :)
You are not wrong Roland!

OP, you may also want to browse the excellent CRK subforum here (which also has its own market sub-subforum if you want to go that way).

Indulge me the following:

"Chris retired in 2014......... CRK was winning the Quality Manufacturing Award nearly every year: 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019, Manufacturing Quality Award.Mar 7, 2021"

I seem to remember some discussion on BladeForums about whether the same production standards were maintained after Chris Reeve left. As my two CRK's were purchased prior to 2014, I did not give the matter much attention. Others can chime in on the topic if interested. Regardless, CRK seems to be one of the top the brands admired by most knuts.

I will be passing my two to my grandson, but not yet.

I’ve been carrying a Sebenza for the better part if the last 20 years. IMHO, they’re well worth the cost and make for great all around EDCs. Simple, no nonsense, work knives.

For me the harder calls are large or small (I’m small), micarta or PJ (I have both and lean slightly toward micarta).

Best of luck in your decision making process!

It's a classic for a lot of good reasons. I don't ever plan on parting with mine. Figuring out which one you want is the only tricky part.

I think I could easily coin-flip between the large Seb and Inkosi. Same with drop-point vs Insingo blades (I kind of wish they had gone further into a less modified Sheepsfoot or Wharncliffe for the Insingo to really make it that much different than the drop-point).

At any rate, they're all great designs, and you could easily flip it if it doesn't work for you.

I have a couple Sebenzas. I think you should get one, but you owe it to yourself to check out the Inkosi. It is a heavier duty, and in my opinion, improved version of the Sebenza with a thicker blade and larger pivot. I like my large Inkosi a little more than my large Sebenza, but I prefer the small Sebenza over the small inkosi.

Here's my small Sebenza next to my small Inkosi (pocket clip removed).

Just my opinion and some food for thought:).

This will be a lonely opinion, because they seem to be the most universally loved pieces around. Which I fully and completely respect.

Had the hots for one for some time now. Then a thread came up the other day and there seemed to be a solid consensus that the action was generally slow and deliberate, with that hydraulic feel.
I have a large Sebenza 31 UG. It's a very nice knife, but I much prefer a blade that will flick open and drop shut. CRK says that their knives are not designed to be flicked open.

You won't be disappointed with a Sebenza provided that you don't mind it not being designed to be flicky and drop shutty, and also allow the break-in period. It will be a bit stiff at first but will smooth out nicely so long as you let it. The CRKs give you the immediate feeling in your hand that it is a substantial tool. This is something you have to experience yourself to fully understand. It's impressive how much thought was put into every single detail of the knives. Every bit of it is perfected and is thoughtfully designed to serve a purpose and to serve it well. There's no fluff or filler, it's just a tool that will outlast you many times over, and looks and feels good while doing it.

Search for local dealers in your area that carry them so you can feel out which one is best for you, even if it's a bit of a drive.

Like others have said, you really can't go wrong with a Sebenza. I have a large micarta inlay 21. It's a really good knife. I just prefer the action and lockup of a Shirogorov F95. The lockup is like a bank vault. It's just amazing how good it is.

Once you drink the cool-aid, there are many really great knives out there.

I have a few 21s and they all get used. I highly recommend you look into the CRK line.
