Presentation SOG knife

Looks like an original Mess Association presentation knife. That particular blade grind is also the style that the SOG Company chose to copy for their version.
The actual field knife issued to troops had the top grind all the way to the back of the blade. You will still find even that model with the 5th Special Forces inscription for presentation purposes.
Typically, combat issued pieces were sterile or had serial numbers for "accounting" purposes. Its hard to find an original one in great shape as most deteriorated in the jungle environment.
Interesting field of collection but too rich for my blood
