Preserving a patina on a user? Possible?

Is it possible to keep a vinegar patina on a knife from being scrubbed off during everyday use? Would renaissance wax protect it somewhat?

If not, what is the easiest way to apply some kind of blueing?
I like the look, but I don't want to give a patina'd knife to a customer, knowing it'll get rubbed off the first time the knife gets used to cut something kind-of abrassive.

I just looked at my EDC, I started the patina by cutting an orange and putting it back in my pocket and let it sit overnight ( not really a planned event), next day patina. Its really scratched up but great patina and getting better. Its 1095 steel. I think it will take some effort to rub off a patina.

I did some 1095 utility knives that I lightly oxidized with ferric sulfate (very dilute) and they have stood up really well in the shop despite being abused by the owner (me). If there is nasty cutting job they get it.

Basicly a patina is easy to repair any bright spots, just don't oil it for a while.

My EDC used to have a nice black teflon coating. Well most of that is gone now and it has a nice patina that it has aquired from use and abuse.
