Has anyone tried modifying a pressure cooker to make a vacuum chamber for stabilizing handle materials?

Have a cool yule.

I was thinking about one of those soft drink syrup/carbonated water tanks, they already have available fittings and stuff that would be easy to adapt to, just have to make sure its really clean. ANy input on that?

How much vaccum pressure do you need for this operation? Would a pyrex mixing bowl covered with a 1/2 steel plate ,neoprene for the gasket work? Maybe check the science sites for vaccume chambers, Burden's Surplus has several pumps in their catalog.

What kind of liquid or oil, urathane, glue, varnish, wax, epoxy or lizzard guts works for stabbilizing even if I had a chamber? Bruce

I run a small orthodontic lab and process acrylic on a daily basis. All of my work is cured in a modified pressure cooker at about 23psi.My setup also contains a heating element set to about 120 degrees.Great Lakes orthodontic supplies carries a lot of different acrylics and pressure pots.

oops I should have read the original post better. You want to cure under vacuum not pressure.my bad
