the only difference being that you EDC a fixed blade of 9" (or less). What knife do you wish you had with you.

Carbon steel? or Laminated? or Stainless? I wouldnt want a carbon steel blade in that situation.

I'll Take the Fallkniven A1

Yea, probably Laminated or Stainless. After reading Cody Ludins 98.6 deg book, I'm favorable to the mora knife, although I still don't have one(yet).

A....MORA???
Yer gonna be STRANDED!!! Nothing to do. And ya got a MORA ta look at during the few minnits a day that yer not starvin to death?
Come ON!!!!

No TV!!!!

At the VERY least, a Tops Tracker. If for nothing else than to figure out what it's good for.

:D

Yea, No doubt, I don't own a Tracker, and probably never will. I do however, respect Tom Brown Jr. - He knows his stuff (IMO), but I don't know what he was thinking, designing something like that. Common Tom, your better than that.

Well, I was thinking. Fish was his primary food, and although it could be done, cleaning fish with a chopper would get pretty, well choppy. You can easily fell many saplings with a Mora, and use fire to fell the larger trees needed for a raft.

OK, pretend you're Tom Hanks, your world has turned to **** but you've survived, your girl has gotten married to and born kids with another man now, and you meet this great looking little gal out west in an old pickup truck, ... and YOU DON'T GO HOME WITH HER WHEN SHE NEARLY INVITES YOU TO??? :D What was that man thinking???

A top quality leatherman with the optional Satellite phone attachment. Expensive, but well worth it for circumstances like these.

Take afore mentioned knife and stab yourself in the face. That gal was a knock out.

remember this was pretend, (in my version the co-pilot was was a cute red-head and she survives). The knife OAL size is 9". What blade material is easiest to maintain and sharpen on a smooth stone. I guess you could keep the blade coated with coconut or fish oil. VG-10, Infi, D2, ATS34, S30V, Zytel, Micarta, G-10, serrated or not, clip point. Will anything last 5+ years?

I'll take my Busse SFNO. Won't rust easily, sharpens efficiently, and I can do any task I need to with it.
