Heads were fully hardened to around 55 Rockwell.
Question for clarification...
Does the above mean that the whole head was hardened to around 55 Rockwell?
Or that the hardened portion of the head was thoroughly hardened to around 55 Rockwell?

(Beautiful axes, by the way, as usual)

Growing up I was taught if the eye was hardened the axe would crack. Is that not something to be concerned with? honest question bc I think your work is beautiful

Thanks! I wouldn't worry about it cracking, 4140 is tough steel. Liam Hoffman heat treats his axes heads the same way.
