Where to start... Probably to say that there is a part of me that really doesn't want to sell this.

I had never used a Chef's knife before. Growing up my family just had some Old Hickory/Chicago Cutlery knives and when my wife and I got married she had a decent chef's knife I began using. I wanted something better though and I bought this knife. My only reason for getting rid of it is that I wanted to try some different knives out and got a couple of new knives in and promised the wife if I bought them I'd let go of this one to recoup some cash. Otherwise I'd keep it.

Some things to know:

This knife isn't very old (2 months?).
Only used on vegetables (we're vegan).
Nothing hard (root vegetables get the cleaver) - onions, garlic, bell pepper.
Factory edge is unchanged - only steeled twice (shaves hair)
Always cleaned immediately and dried afterwards by hand. NO DISHWASHER
Only used on the wood butcher block you see; no plastic boards or bamboo.
Always placed in a knife block after drying.
I don't believe I have the box. I will package it very well.


With all that being said the knife my show some honest use but it is a very clean example of a Shun knife. These knives get great reviews and cut like a dream.

Any info on type of steel,length of handle and blade?

Sure. This is the Classic line.

Hand-sharpened 16° double-bevel blade (32° comprehensive)
Steel: VG10 cutting core, 32 layers (16 per side) stainless Damascus cladding
Handle: D-shaped ebony PakkaWood®
Blade length: 10"
Handcrafted in Japan

I'll have to measure handle length.

I was asked about my "honest wear" comment. When I took the photos and looked the knife over it looked to be in perfect shape. I only put that to emphasize that the knife has been used. It may not be 100% perfect LNIB like so many listings.

Just trying to be honest, that's all. :)
