Some fantastic customs here, many used and a couple brand-spankin' new. I encourage questions and individual photo requests.

First to say "I'll take it" in the thread gets the knife.

Here's what's up for grabs:

EDIT: as of 6:00 PM Pacific 2/25/11, only knife 1 is available with a price reduction. (Morris)

2) Matt Bailey - Clip point, Cruforge V, Micarta and G10

Here's how Matt himself described this blade:

"I forged this one from a bar of Cruforge V. Before I finished it, I did quite a bit of cutting and chopping with it (as much chopping as you can do with this size blade). It held up very well.

"I clay coated the blade for a hamon. I know Cruforge is not supposed to get a hamon, so I played with the clay application a bit, and came up with this. The spine is also fileworked and tapered.

"The handle is black linen micarta laminated to tan G10. I like the combination.

"The sheath has a clip for right handed in the pocket carry, or left handed belt carry. I personally carry my own knife in my pocket, and have no desire to carry one on my belt now."

Dimensions
Blade - 4 1/2" tip to handle
OAL - 9"

The knife was used to cute open some lobsters and the lobster "juice" gave it a crazy blue-purple patina with grey speckling. I've used this knife and it shows light marks on the blade towards the handle from cutting into a tree branch.

A lot of Bailey collectors never use their blades. This is your chance to own one and find out that his reputation as a maker is based on far more than looks. Use it, abuse it, and it will ask for more.

3) Matt Bailey - 1095 recurve, black micarta and Curly Maple.

Here's how Matt himself described this blade:

"Here is a 1095 with a nice hamon. It has been clay quenched and etched, and the hamon really pops. I tried to take decent pictures of it, but photographing a hamon is tricky.

"The blade is forged from 1/4" 1095 and has filework and a tapered tang.

"The handle is stabilized curly maple. It looks nice and actually has a little burl on it. It also has a black linen micarta bolster.

"The sheath is 8-9oz leather, that is hand stitched and tooled. The knife fits snugly, and draws easily.

"There is an in the hand shot, but here are the dimensions anyways,"

Blade - 4 1/2" tip to handle
OAL - 9 1/2"

Knife is in unused.

4) Dylan Fletcher Layered Hatchula

Total Length:.......... 10.5"
Blade Length:......... 5.5"
Handle Length:....... 5"
Blade Thickness:..... 3/16"
Steel:.................... O-1 Tool Steel
Grind:.................... Convex Saber (with Ghost Scale)
Handle Material:..... Black Canvas Micarta, 1/8 natural micarta spacers
Pins:..................... 1/4" Natural Canvas Micarta and 1/4 Stainless tube

No sheath. Feel free to contact Dylan to see if he has a source.

This knife has been used in the bush, I asked my nephew to use a sponge to get some sap off the the bevels, he came back with it and it turns out he used a green scratch pad longways on it as if it were a cheap kitchen knife. So the finish has these light scratches on it.

See also a couple of light marks on the reverse side. Looks like dust in the photos, but this is a touch of pitting/patina from the same trip up the coast.

Neither of these issues change the performance of this made-for-extremely-hard-use woods knife.

6) Phillip Patton "Utility" in Natural Micarta.

Don't let the name fool you, this knife is not a dainty little utility knife.

I believe it's made with either O1 or A2 tool steel, based solely on what Phillip was making these blades out of at the time. The reverse side of the ricasso says "1188" but I don't know what this refers to.

Natural Micarta scales
Stainless corby bolt construction, stainless lanyard tube
Incredibly tapered tang
3/16 stock, 11" overall, about 5.75" tip to handle.
Fantastic fit & finish.
Original sheath is a bit flimsy and has had a stitching repair towards the tip.
Knife itself is flawless and unused.

Nickel silver bolsters and pins
Black buffalo horn scales with red liners
File worked spine
Original sheath with tip region reenforced with heavier thread.

8) LARGE Laconico Slipjoint

Blade and Spring steel: 1095, 1/8" stock
Closed length: 5"
Opened length:8 3/4"
Handle: relief milled G10 with brass pins/tube
What Ray himself had to say about this knife: "Nice walk and talk, smooth action, spring is flush in all 3 positions Thanks, -Ray Laconico"

I should get my head examined giving this one up. what a blade, what an edge. It has been very lightly used and has a bit of patina on from when I once cut sashimi with it. Yes, it was and is sashimi cutting sharp.
