I wanted to try a classic French design and that is exactly what this Le Thiers is a beautiful representation of. However, I just don’t carry it enough to justify keeping it.
Disclosures: the knife came with an uneven edge bevel that I successfully reprofiled and finished on a 1000 grit water stone. The tip also sat proud in the closed position, so I filed some metal off of the ricasso and tried to sand it smooth. The result of the finishing isn’t perfect, but someone with better skills could get it back to perfect. As it is, it isn’t very noticeable and it certainly keeps the tip from poking your finger or clothing. You can still feel the tip if you try, but you can’t snatch it open without some pressure. I’ve cleaned and lubed the knife with nano oil. The knife is better now than when I bought it, in my opinion.
The knife is a great food prepper and has wonderful, palm-filling, dark ebony covers, which are attached with torx screws so you can get to the pivot if you want. The liner lock is very solid with no play in any direction and I really like the smooth action of the extended tang—all the fun of a friction folder with the safety of a liner lock. 12c27 stainless steel.
I paid about $100 (77 euros with shipping) and am asking for $85--now $75--shipped to your door. I take PayPal and will pay the transaction fee or you can go friends and family and save me a few bucks.
Feel free to ask questions if I’ve left something out.
