I recently purchased an old Remington R8086. I don't know anything about automatics but I have learned a little with this one. It had only one scale and the other was less than half. I decided to make new scales, clean it up a little and sell it. It needed love and I was there to love it but now it's time to let her go.
This is a Remington R8063 double automatic. I took this thing apart and removed dirt and grime from the lock, frame, spring, etc. I didn't remove any patina, scratches, spots, etc.. I left it looking natural!
I adjusted the spring and the blades open nicely. The main blade opens and locks every time. The pen plade's spring is a touch strong so the blade opens, and locks about half the time. I suppose a little dirt and grime would help slow it down a little but I will leave that up to you.
The blades appear to be about 90%. They have scratches and patina. Both blades have some play. The Main blade is etched "Remington Master Knife". The etch is faint but still visible.
The locks work well
I made and installed new Ebony Wood scales. They look very nice and I think very classy on this double auto! In some places, the scales are not perfectly flush with the edges of the liners because I sanded them while off the knife so I wouldn't disturb the patina. Don't get me wrong, they are really close, just not perfect.
The new owner will also recieve one original scale that I removed from the knife. It's brown bone and in near perfect condition. How the other side got destroyed is beyond me. But at least you will have one original and if you find a match one day you can put them on and sell the Ebony scales.
I am asking $135
If you have any questions or need more info just PM me.
Thanks! - Grant
