Price Increase?

The recent posting about the Ti Sage got me thinking. Will there be a price increase from the current model?

Yeah its solid titanium handles. But I imagine that since they wont have to pay for the carbon fiber and deal with all the nastiness that working with carbon fiber it just might help keep the price down.

I can see it being a similar price to other full Ti frame locks so I believe it will be more than the CF Sage.

I could be totally wrong, but based on Sal's comments regarding the relative cost of knives built in various countries, the MSRP of the Phoenix, and the relative complexity of both models, I'd guess the price of the Sage RIL will be fairly close to that of the Walker lock Sage - at least unless the exchange rate changes dramatically.

Deacon, I hope you're right that the RIL will be about the same cost as the Walker. However, I suspect that the RIL will be more expensive maybe by as much as 50% due to the titanium handles. Many quality titanium framelocks are a bit spendy.

However, you've handled one and I haven't. Based upon your observations, do you think it's a more valuable knife based upon ergos, lockup, etc...?

You could be right about the price, as I said, my observation was merely a (semi)educated guess.

As for your question, I assume the egros would be identical, since the basic design is the same. Beyond that, I can't really answer fairly, as I've yet to handle the Walker lock version. I can only say what I've said before, that the overall fit and finish of Sage RIL impressed me quite a bit. To the point, in fact, where I want one in spite of the fact it's wrong handed and a framelock to boot. The lockup was rock solid and the action was extremely smooth.

Isn't it using titanium? I'm guessing it will be around $150

So isn't about $150 street price about right?

$85 from a few sellers.

I would think there would be some sort of wash between the CF and the Ti. Maybe not 100% but some amount of wash.
