price of a small sebenza

I'm in Ireland, and to be honest it is a lottery whether you will be charged with taxes.

If someone is willing to mark it gift and low value then you will probably be ok, but even then I have been caught as they opened the package, and didn't agree with the valuation. If full value is put down you will definitely be stung for taxes.

I have SPAM.

Best of luck in your quest.

I know at least 5 people that want a Seb, but don't want to order it in the US, and don't want to pay for Mr. Adola his Mercedes.

Well, some choices must be made. As we say over here "you can't have the butter and the butter-money". Those who don't want to buy online, and don't want to pay the shop price either... well... tough luck for them.

Hi Ted V.
I think the knive I ordered in the US came by FedEx but i'm not sure. It was quite long ago. I saw the small sebenza on the forum today but was to late. Searching other fora as well now.

By the way, the owner of Adola BV drives a Saab,
:D

What is that supposed to be a prestige car? :D

I have a friend who owned one and he couldn't close the windows in a driving rain storm last fall. Every time he put the windows up; they came back down again all by themselves. He sold it for a huge loss because he hated that Saab so much.

Using a courier (UPS/Fedex) is often a 100% guarantee for tax and import duty.

A regular global priority USPS envelope is the opposite ... ;)

But not all dealers want to send that way. But even if you pay shipping and import taxes it's still cheaper than Adola (and other shops in europe).

I did a quick test. For example a Chris Reeve Mnandi with Jigged Madagascar Rosewood inlays.

Price in Canada (TNK) = 350 $
Shipping (Fedex) = 60$

Together = 410 $ = 278 Euro. Plus 35% taxes = 374 Euro.

Price Adola(the Netherlands) = 590 Euro.

Gain: 216 Euro. With that money you can buy another nice knife!

Sorry Mr. Adola, you lost a customer:thumbdn:. Mr. Ostroff (TNK), you have a new satisfied customer:thumbup:.

(I used this Mnandi as example, I actually bought 5 of them with different inlays, but the Jigged Rosewood is the only one that both Adola and TNK have in their product list)

oops...hit the post button too soon and then couldn't get edit to work....my point is that everyone doesn't gouge on shipping. If you establish a relationship with a good dealer, it will go a long way.
