Which knives would you term outstanding with regard to price /performance ratio?
As far as my experience goes the “CRKT, Crawford/Kasper (large)” and the “Spyderco, native” set standards in this category.
Do my opinion meet with your approval?
Do you know other knives which belong to this category?

Spyderco Native in CPM 440V
Camillus 154CM EDC
CRK&T Kasper
CRK&T Stiff Kiss
Microtech LCC
Spyderco Delica/Endura

Opinel, probably the most inexpensive knife with the highest quality construction.
These buggers will take a keen edge.

The Calypso Jr. is a lot of knife for the price point. And while they may not be very fashionable or high tech, Schrade Old Timers are a good solid value also.

Based on my experience, anything that CRKT makes as well as the recent stuff Timberline is putting out.

My good value list:

Everything Spyderco! (Wegner in my pocket right now)
REKAT - these things are great for the money
Camillus EDC
KA-BAR
Cold Steel Voyagers, and their cheaper fixed blades
Just about everything CRKT makes
Spec Plus fixed blades - pretty good steel, and dirt cheap!
Busse Basics - (these are EXCELLENT for the price)

I am not a big Crkt fan but i have a few A large Kasper and a m16 flipper ... i think for the money there really well built with thought in design and pretty good metals but still knida cheap feeling The Microtech ** LCC ** has to be the best for money value i can,t believe you can get such a well built thought out ( almost Custom ) for such short money

Anything made by Bob Dozier! His fixed blades, in particular, are an incredible value. For less than the price of many production knives you can get a top-quality custom made to your own specifications. And Dozier knives are as good as you can get at any price.

I certainly agree with you Horus. I'd probably put the CRKT M16-04/14 ahead of those. IMO the best value of the CRKTs may be the large Apache.

I've come to this opinion quite recently -- 2 knives arrived yesterday -- but I think I'd have to put the Paragee, the Magna, and the Impulse by Outdoor Edge pretty near the top. Though it costs less, I definitely like my Paragee better than my Camillus EDC. The Impulse just isn't like anything else out there, particularly in the area of style. The Magna is incredible. Talk about built like a tank! I just got the aluminum handled model, and frankly, I think it would outlast the vast majority of other tactical folders in a hard work environment. It is just massive. The lock feels at least as strong, possibly stronger than any other liner lock I've handled. I sure understand why it received such favorable reviews from TK and Blade.

First of all... LCC!!! Then I would go along with Mr. Ewing above and say some of the recent timberline stuff(although thier stuff has always been a pretty good bargain, IMO). I'd add any of the Kershaw Ken Onion models, and just about all of CRKT's stuff. I agree that CRKT's knives seem junky at first sight, but after getting intimate with the knives(stop those thoughts right now) you find out they're very sturdy.

I'm receiving a Spyderco Vesuvius here in a couple days(birthday). That looked like a pretty darned good bargain to me. I guess I'll find out.

Almost anything that says Spyderco on it and hopefuly the Camillus EDC that I have on order!

I have been into knives a long time. I can buy and carry any knife I want. I have tried many. Benchmades, Microtechs, Emerson, Spydercos, even the Sebenza. Customs too. The knife I am carrying is a CRK&T M16-04. This knife is totally out of line with the price. The quality is extremely good. The steel is on the low scale for edge holding, but is very tough and stain resistant. And I don't mind weekly sharpening. For value for your money, CRK&T is king. At these prices I am not afraid to use the knife hard.

Most of the CRKTs have exceptional price/performance. So does the Camillus 154CM EDC. As much as some may disagree, the BM Axis knives are awesome for the price.

I'll also throw in the PCKS Buck 110. A stag handled, tough as nails lock, and a BG-42 blade for $125.00. That's bang for the Buck!!!

Oh yah. Marbles!!!! Sharp!

Thanks for the replies.

You have awaken my interest for the Timberline knives, thanks for that too.
