I have a lot of orders of my 9" chefs' knife model. It is a "hit" for sure :D I finished a batch of 3, didn't duscuss the prices yet with customers. They know it wont be cheap... I don't calculate prices as a product of my time spent or material costs. I just price them thinking of the real value of the knife in the eye of a customer...
I have sold first prototype at $ 350 but I think I should lower the price but how much I dont know. I couldn't figure the price and I have to sell them soon...
These will include a fancy box and a little ceramic sharperner made by me. Maybe I'll include also a knife block, I'm not sure of that yet.

All I'm asking what would you want a knife like that... Dont be shy, just tell what you think it is worth. (Steel D2 60 HRC, 2000X handrubbed, SS or brass fittings and stabilized burl handles)...

Beautiful knife; really like the blade shape:thumbup:. It's worth every bit of 350.00

I say $350 for the knife + an additional charge for the presentation box. If you lower the price people might think you decided to cut corners.

I agree with you that a product is worth what it is worth. Time and materials determine your profitability, but don't directly effect the real value of the product as much as we wish it did (or we'd all be wealthy).

I don't know about pricing in Turkey, but here in the USA I think that knife and box is priced right at $350. Not too high, not too low. That is for a maker who knows what he is doing and the knife is spot on - which I believe is the case here.

If it were me buying it, I'd rather pay $300 and pass on the box because the knife would get used and the box would get stored in a closet somewhere.

(BTW, D2 is great in the kitchen)

Thanks a lot friends. It is very good to know that I'm on the right track..

I'm happy with this price but 300 won't hurt either. Mr. Nathan's point is very good also, thats why I want to reduce the price as our living standarts a bit low. Our cost of living is way too below compared to USA, and also GPA is lower. My price is fair maybe in there but I cannot price my pieces as they were made in USA... I will reduce the price to 300 and my gf will make more modest boxes for these knives so I won't spend extra time to make boxes... You know some one bought those may also order a matching paring or filet knife, I don't want to scare them with high prices ;)
Thanks again guys..

i say your price is right on. I have also noticed that you can take a high priced knife and try and sell it for less and you wont. people are funny that way, we assume that if its expensive it must be good. so dont make them to cheep.
