In about 3 weeks ,after ex comes back with family & a big-a$$ed truck,I'll get out an 1899 London newspaper & give you some doozy prices. Remember ,that far back the Pound was worth about $5.00 USd . At least from my memories of the '30's financial pages anyhow.

One interesting trademark struck my eye the minute I picked it up.In fact,I sold some of it in the '70's & had forgotten about it until I noticed it again at a shopping center.

Anyone want to take a wild-a$$ guess ?

I cannot offer a prize 'cause after my ex- was done, heck, I can't even buy a flea a 'rasslin' jacket.

Until I recover $ome, I'll just try to cut down on rants ! Okay ?

That's a fine question Uncle, I can think of some things that have been around a long time like cast iron cookery, but this is a tricky call...how about wind-up alarm clocks? OH, old style dial telephones? ( remember 3 party lines?) I was really young then! :D :confused:

A huge hint;

It is made in various sizes but maintains the same basic shape.

A freebie;

It's logo is a cup ,like a chalice in design.

A jockstrap.

'Nudder hint ;

At least 95 percent of the world has used this type , not necessarily this brand & probably never paid one iota of attention to it . It is a vital product & becoming used in more sizes than ever before.

The same basic shape has been used for 100 + years.

It is NOT a personal product but dozens of different brands are there to choose from .

tupperware. The burp means its sealed!

A container of sorts ? Probably could say so.

It's quality is paramount for peace of mind...........

I dunno, my pea-brain is stumped. I was thinking a locket or brooch, but that's not a vital product. How about a jar from a famous glass company.

I am glad that you don't collect 70-year-old jockstraps. That's a hobby I'd just as soon not know about...:D

Are we getting into protective equipment here? They don't come ribbed do they? Maybe magnums and rubberbands?

It is somewhat captivating.... If it wasn't ,it would not work......

You almost got "roundtuit"

The product DOES offer protection & comfort . You most likely used it today & accepted it without a thought....

Is there an elasticity involved? Or are we talkin spring action?
maybe just a different kind of "rubber"?

Several of you are touching on it. A bit of several answers could get it.

Earlier clue mentioned chalice shaped cup . Now think 'gold cup ' .

Most of you are partially right, like the blind men .

This should do it.

A man,John D----- watched his young struggling with a new gift. He saw a way to vastly improve the handling of the gift and launched a huge industry over 100 years ago. I have no idea of longer lasting enterprises but,surely there a few older than this company...........
