I found what I consider a dynamic price variance with some Spyderco products. First of all, I'm a big fan of that brand, and I wish I owned more. My recent model is the folder below.
However, in checking out other models I found a knife that could be the twin brother of the one I have. The only difference appeared to be a button near the pivot, which could be an activation device for an automatic model.
It was the pricing that got me. My knife, which also has a gray grip and a Maxamet blade cost me 54 bucks from my dealer, and I think he tossed in shipping.
However, the model showcased, the Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight Knife Gray (3.375" Maxamet Stonewash), is marked 203 dollars. That means that the "model change" for the same blade and handle was upped by 150 bucks.
Even as an automatic, that seems steep for a coil spring and an aluminum button. What do you guys think?
