Primary Rotation: Who's On Your Team?

I have amassed a rather large knife collection. Large enough where I have actually had problems selecting a knife for the day, or week, because I would just get caught up fondling them all again and eventually a half an hour would pass and I've used far too much time appreciating each individual knife. It is a beautiful problem I very much appreciate having to deal with, but nevertheless, it is a problem...

So to assist the issue, I selected one single knife from the foremost brands of my collection. There are a few brands missing, but the Team was already starting to get overly large anyways. These are the distilled, the elite, the most highly refined representatives of their respective brands (at least out of the options I own):

Hinderer XM 18
Sebenza 21
ZT 0606CF
Griptilian in S30V sporting AWT red aluminum scales
Kershaw Blur, S30V, blue ano, silver twill carbon fiber
Lionsteel KUR
Freeman 451 BLF
Kizer MJOLNIR
Reate Horizon C
Cold Steel Recon 1 (may yee CTS XHP blades rest in peace)
Spyderco Sliverax
Boker Hitman in D2
WE Knives Blitz
Real Steel Thor
Protech TR4

The Working Man is a redundancy not representing Cold Steel so much as joining the Team to fill the role of Super Beater. It's reliable, cheap, light as hell, thin 'n' slicy, and packs a Triad Lock: all the things a proper Super Beater is made out of.

The Kizer Ophid is a redundancy as well. It does not represent the brand so much as joins the Team to provide "a base of fire." It's the Ophid's job to provide the EDC base upon which the rest of the team stands. It is made out of great materials, but I also won't be worried to beat it up. It is light, and of a more practical EDC size than, say, the 0606, or the Recon 1, etc. The Ophid represents what I like to call "high end functionality," bringing the performance of a high end knife, but shirking the fancy-looking stuff to save cost. Therefore, as I typically carry two knives with me everyday, it will likely be the Ophid and one of the others selected at random.

It looks like quite a fun collection. Eclectic. Definitely covering all my bases from Tank to Beater. It might lack Pocket Jewelry factor, but I am fine with that.

So, now I ask you: who's on your team? Do you rotate one knife for everyday of the year? Do all your cutting tasks rest on the shoulders of one, single badass knife that never leaves your side? Post a pic!

The top knife (KC Gray Pirate Jack) is my newest and is just now working in a manner that I like so it will be my primary for the next year or so.

I don't carry the TR-4 anymore because I live in New York now

The Sebenza is what I carried every day really until today

The CRKT Crossbones I got for Christmas and I carry it when I'm going to be in the office all day and whenever I want something small and light.

I don't think long about anything in the morning I like things simple and simple means fewer choices.

I own a ton of knives, but my current rotation this year has mostly been as follows (in no particular order of favoritism):

Protech TR3
Rockstead Chi
Hoback Kwaiback
ZT 0454
GT Helix Nano

Oh man, lot of love for the Protechs, hey? They’re great, yet I almost never seem them posted on here. I also have the TR3 in textured blue ano’d titanium. Pretty wicked little unit.

That’s a sick knife. What steel are you working with there?

How do you find the Rockstead? They’re some beautiful knives!

My normal EDC is
1) Buck 110 on the belt.
2) Large (4 inch closed) Stockman.
3) 4 Blade Scout knife.
4) Ontario Rat 1.
5) SAK "Signature" on the keyring.
All but the Buck and Signature are in the right front pocket.

Some days I'll swap out the 4 blade Scout knife for a SAK Huntsman, or the "Demo" knife (made by Western. Camillus was not the only company that made them for the military.) that I was issued in 1975.

Once in a while I'll take out the Stockman out of my pocket and replace it with a large Trapper (4 1/4" closed) or 2 blade Barlow, since I keep a Stockman (Buck 371, Walmart edition with G10 covers) in the bicycle's tool bag.
If I know I'll have some heavy work that day, I'll add a Sunfish to the mix, and either a Buck 119 or 877 to the belt, along with the 110.

Nice! I’m really tempted to get a Buck 110. They got the 110 Pro and the Ultra Light or whatever that I am really interested in... I just wish it had a clip, though. I need my clips, man

52100 core San Mai. Last August when I went looking for a new knife I wanted a modern folder in San Mai. I wanted something that combined old with new, and was unique, this checked all the blocks was in my price range and it only took me 6 or so months to decide to buy it.

Haha that’s awesome man! No compromises? No wonder you’re down to EDC it solo! I’ve really been wanting a carbon steel in a folder lately too. Was really tempted by the 52100 PM2, alas, I’m not wild about the way that knife looks... and something tells me yours’ll be outa my price range lol

The belt sheath is better. You'll never lose it, and the weight on the belt is not noticed.
My only knife with a clip is the Rat 1. It has fallen out of my pocket once. Fortunately, I was at home when it did.
I'm thinking I might leave it home from now on. No reason to take a chance in it falling out if my pocket and losing it while I'm riding my bike.

Get the 110. You won't regret it. I've been carrying one (or a Old Timer 7OT) since 1969.

I don't know if he makes them anymore but my Sebenza was more expensive..

I rotate about six every two weeks. Right now : Cold Steel Eland, Grik, Counter-Tac 2. CRKT Hissatsu, Shizuoka Noh Ken. Kershaw Skyline XL. I guess I'm feeling a little ninja this month.

What is that coated blade in the center? It’s almost Recon 1-esque. I want.
Are you talking about the green handled folder ?

That's actually a $4 Ozark trail knife that was a gift.
I won't say it's the best thing ever, but it's actually a solid knife that takes a razor edge.
It would serve the average non knife person perfectly well to open mail boxes...ect.

Very nice collection ! ! !
Mine are so much more modest.
Up until lately it would be a daunting task to list them.
Now ?
These two . . . pretty much every day. (truth be told I haven't had the smooth red bone slip joint (Boker Large Stockman) very long but it just won't leave my pocket. And unlike all the Trappers I used to carry the hell out of the Large Stockman can just ride in the bottom of my pocket and I don't notice it. The other one is my out of this world good and perfect for me Para2 M4.

Now before these two there was this pair of heavily modded Cold Steel Ti Lite IVs
A belt pouch is a must for these two work horses but what a pair ! ! !

Full flat ground and thinned to 1.9mm at the spine and as long as a Military. LOOK OUT !

There are many more but here . . . this will creep you out :
Two Cold Steel Kitchen Classic paring knives with KreyEx handles; one toothy . . . one polished edge and just stupid sharp. In Mora sheaths . . . right o_O . . . right ;)
