Primary/Secondary EDCs

I used to always have a Victorinox Rambler on my keychain, and carry a folder, but i changed my EDC about a year ago.

Whenever I go in the city, about ten miles away, I will have a backpack with a Hultafors OK1 and a Maxpedition Micro with a SwissCard and a Boker Plus Subcom Titanium VG10.

I will also have a folder in my pocket, so I don't need to open the backpack. Typically a serrated Spyderco Native FRN, a Sage 5 or one of my Chaparrals in the pocket.

At home (daily homestead type work) I usually carry only a folder, something small in the summer - the rotation: Mini Cutjack, the Native in Rex45, Para 3 Maxamet, Tasman Salt 2 SE, Native in LC200N.

Large stuff for the winter: Caribbean SE, GB2, PM2, Manix s110v, Doug Ritter RSK, Swayback supplemented with smaller Bark Rivers: the PSK EDC, the UL Bushcrafter, the Mini Tundra, the Gunny Hunter.

"Primary" is usually a locking folder, with a blade in the 3 to 3.5" range. This is used for all the cutting, unless a smaller blade is called for or unless I somehow let this one get too dull.
"Secondary" is usually a SAK, which is "traditional" when viewed from a European point of view. It has a back-up blade, as well as some useful tools.

I put Primary and Secondary in quotes because I often use the Secondary more for its tools. For example, I use the toothpick in the SAK after almost every meal and on slow days, I don't use a knife blade at all. (without going out of my way to)
You and I are much alike.

Normal EDC is probably a large Griptilian most of the time. A Benchmade 531 or a Kershaw Zing (US) may get used instead of the Grip when suitable.

My secondary EDC (if carried) is normally a SAK. Cadet, Spartan, or Soldier/Pioneer.

Like I have said before, a Soldier/Pioneer is my choice on paper but the Cadet wins out often because it is easier on my nails. Same with the Spartan.

I always carry a SAK Recruit, everyday - everywhere. I also "usually" carry a modern locking folder of some description , but that varies somewhat to the occasion. Of the modern folders, my favourite carry is the original green aluminum handled 940. I have 4 different 940's, but always seem to grab the regular 940 for some reason and not sure why.

And I can’t stand the green aluminum handled 940. I’ve handled others and they’re fine.

Of course, I’m not overly fond of metal scaled knives to begin with. Alox scaled Swiss Army knives are about the only exception.

I have an EDC rotation so the set-up changes depending on what I'm wearing or what I'm doing.

I always have a primary blade. It's usually a folder but is sometimes a small fixed blade if I need the pocket space. I always have a secondary blade but only because I always have a small multi-tool with me. (The blade on my Squirt still looks new.) I sometimes end up carrying a third blade but that's conditional. If I'm traveling to states that prohibit firearms and I'm carrying a folding knife as my primary blade that day, I'll also carry a defensive fixed blade like the Kizer Pinkerton Lancer.

I always carry an AA-sized flashlight. A second light gets added conditionally if I think an evening walk away from home might happen or if I just have extra pockets. For instance, I add an 18650-sized flashlight during jacket weather.
