Primble's Boker Display and Old Knives - Updated Photos

Primble - it looks like you ran out of room and had to remove the Hatch from your display case. :eek: As you seem to be running into a storage problem, I'll be happy to help you out. Just package that old Hatch up and send to me. I'm sure I can find room for it somewhere. ;) :p

Yeah Mark - good spotting - that Anchor Barlow is a sweetheart of a knife - as all of them -Whew!!!

Not intended for all Boker knives, rather some of my cherished old knives from assorted manufacturers.

This cabinet sits on my desk, beside my Mac display, so I see it frequently and while on the forum. ;):D

I think I see a flaw in the half trapper....better send it to me for some TLC;) Goodness ...the whole display is so gorgeous it's hard to believe its real!

Thank you Gevo. :thumbup::D:D:D

Roberto - That display is awesome my friend! :thumbup:That Anchor Barlow is something you don't see and it's looks very cool. :cool:

Many thanks Marko - I like the Gardner 1876 too ! :thumbup::thumbup::)

Now I can carry the Hatch without removing those super magnets, OW. ;);):D

Fantastic display, Primble!!! :eek::thumbup::thumbup::eek:
I dream that someday I'll find just one knife comparable to those in your display! :D

I've been a baseball fan all my life, and I've also played some form of it all my life, and take many "life lessons" from baseball; now a new season is here again. Here's my take on BF denizens in a baseball metaphor. Some of you folks are major league professional Hall of Famers when it comes to knife collecting (and most of us know who you are :p). Some of us, myself included, are just amateur sandlot players, or church-league slo-pitch softball players, or maybe just guys who like to play catch once in a while. But the cool thing is that every once in a while, even the amateurs make the same kind of fantastic plays that the Hall of Famers make routinely. We all have the same kinds of objectives/dreams, sort of, and play by the same rules and recognize excellence using the same criteria, for the most part. So I enjoy "playing the game" myself, but I can also get great joy just sitting back and watching in awe as the pros operate at an entirely different level, but a level that I can still understand. And what I think is fantastic about BF is that it works the other direction, too: the Hall of Famers around here seem to genuinely enjoy the once-in-a-blue-moon fantastic plays of the sandlot guys, and they even seem to enjoy just the everyday competent plays of enthusiastic amateurs trying to do their best. Also, the BF Hall of Famers are perfectly willing to give helpful tips and advice about playing the game to those of us who have trouble catching the ball in a simple game of catch. So I'll probably be sticking around here for a long time! :D:D

Thank you for the nice comments GT. :thumbup::)

Not sure any of my knives could make the Hall, but, I am rather fond of my old knives. :D

Beautiful case and filling of same, Rob! Thought I would show you one that I had filled some years back. I filled mine with various older celluloid knives.
McClung Hardware was based out of Knoxville TN. Hard to find these knives today but I thought the case was a neat addition for storing and displaying knives?

Thank you Perry. Indeed your case (and knives) was a very neat addition !!! Glad you showed it to us. :thumbup::thumbup::)

Still rationalizing your problem I see. Just remember that admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery. I'm here for you friend. ;)

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. :thumbup:

Where is Alabama ? :confused::confused::confused::rolleyes::D

:eek: :grumpy: Oh, I see... last week Alabama was BBN South, now it's "Where is Alabama?" Well again, my geography challenged friend, I'm here to help you. See below (I even highlighted it in blue for you). :D

All kidding aside, the filled display cases are all masterpieces. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

OW - I really do remember where Alabama is my friend, unless we are talking about The Hatch knife, and then my memory becomes fogged for some reason. :o;):D

Liked the US map with blue state of Alabamy - hey - it even has a Primble drop shadow !!! :eek::eek::eek::D:D

I think the nice comments about your display(s) are well-deserved, even if you are apparently geographically-challenged. :D:D
I'm fond of your old knives, too! :p
I'm a "little leaguer" who has no concept of relative market value of the knives I see at BF, and I'm probably making my ignorance very clear with the following comment, but my "heart" would rather have one barlow similar to those in the bottom row of your Boker display than a fistful of Charlows. :eek::confused::eek: (Just talking personal preference, with no idea of whether that's financially a totally absurd comparison - in either direction - and not intending to offend anyone whose preferences are different.) As always, YMMV :):)

Thank you Cate ! :thumbup::)

GT - I get your meaning - I can see that you are a vintage man. ;):D

Primble,
I thought I had asked you before, but I might have just dreamed of it :p
Can you tell us a bit more (and hopefully post a couple pictures) of the fourth knife from the left in the upper part of your display?
Great display :)

Thanks, Primble. I like that phrase, "vintage man"; I think I'll see if I can get my wife to start calling me that instead of "old man". :D:D

Fausto - It is an old Schrade Cut. Co. Model 3053 1/2 Electrician's bone handled knife, 3 & 5/8 inches closed.

1926 Schrade Catalog states: 3 blades (Screw driver-wire scraper, pen, and sheepfoot pocket, pocket crocus polished on one side):

Thank you for the answer and pictures.
Very interesting pattern indeed...aside from the screwdriver/scraper blade, I wish someone still made it :)
That sheepsfoot/pen combo looks great on this frame.
