Primitive Bowie from Cheaper than Dirt

Total garbage. It looks like a costume piece for Captain Hook, is completely unweildy, and far from being full tang it's probably no tang. It's about as sharp as my toothbrush.

Absolutely without merit.

I will not bother returning it as the shipping for this pig would be more than I'd get back. If I don't throw it in the garbage I'll pawn it off on some unsuspecting sucker and make them carry it home.

Negative two stars.

At least it wasn't rusty.

Umm......and you expected it too be better? ;)

Hate to say it, but what does 'cheaper than dirt' might tell about the knife you purchase..?;) Sorry to hear that your knife was that bad, but it could have been a lot worse if you'd spent more money on it.

All I have is 5k right now. Is that enough?

This post is relevant to my interests.

You should know.

The knife whereof we are speaking is the equivalent of this cat.

It was used for catching a blade with the spine. The soft brass could make a steel edge stick in it a little instead of sliding down towards your hand.

Indian "khanda" swords had a similar feature, but it was used as a brace to add rigidity to the thin blade.

And you expected more for that high price. LOL :D

Haters h8 and be damned.

Gimme that sweet, sweet cheap knife goodness. I might possibly step up to the plate and pick up a $30 or even a $40 Bowie this week. I dunno though, that's a little more than I was planning on spending.

There's a pawn shop on the way to Big 5 in my neck of the woods... let's see what gems I can scare up.

You get what you pay for.... ;)

Sometimes one can find good deals at the pawn shops as in higher quality knives at cheap prices. :)

You DO get what you pay for. I bought one of the CTD "Rough Use" bowies based on Noss's destruction test. Drove an hour and a half both ways to Ft Worth picked one up for $10 got home and started batonning through a 4 inch log. On the third strike of the baton the blade broke off the tang leaving me holding the rubber handle and tang. It all went into the trash and I learned a couple of lessons that day. Want to find good deals? Do your homework and check the exchange here for quality used blades.

I picked up a $25 Sarco Khukri a couple years ago and have tried and tried to punish it, but it holds up like a champ. I think it's made of leaf spring steel. Holds an edge real nice.

Check this one out.

Me too! :D Got it this past winter. I forgot about it until now. It's in my box of fixed blades. Put a good 40* edge on it before putting it up too.

I'm going NOSS on this thing over the weekend with a log and if it gets through that, there's plenty of junk in the barn to chop up. :D I'll post pics!

I don't have a "hammer of truth", but I do have a sledge hammer. ;)
