Here is one I just finished. My version of a scalper. Blade forged from old cultivator tooth. Osage handle scales with iron pins and a rawhide wrap. Sheath is buckskin covered leather with fringe and a few beads and cones.

Great look Stuart! I have got to ask, is their a significance to the design at the butt of the handle?

Stuart- From a noob- very nice and I like it- Would loveto know about the blade patina and the sheath. The sheath looks scuffed and colored- did you rough it on the high points? Like the blade finish as well- is it buffed/etched or is that natural patina-what grit did you finish at before buffing? Love the work and your website as well- Thanks for sharing this blade!

Thanks for the Compliments. I apprecaite it.

The blade patina is achieved by cold bluing and then soaking in bleach. If you will do a search on cold bluing you will get some really good detailed instructions. The sheath is covered with a piece of deerskin split or suede. I use different mixtures of dye to get the dirty look. I then use mink oil on what would be the wear areas and burnish the nap down to get to the used look.
