Primos Damascus Bowie...UNREAL BOWIE!!!

Terry apparently thought he had this one sold a while back, the guy ended up backing out for some reason, well, he will kick himself forever I think, because this bowie is about as nice a bowie as I have ever come across, and for the price, I should go to jail, because I STOLE it! :)

OK, full size, wide southwestern style bowie, 7.25" blade, sharp top clip, the sweetest walnut handle you ever saw, with flush SS pins, and a gorgeous pearl escutcheon on one side, the pins and pearl are so perfectly fitted, it feels as if they are literally part of the wood, I can feel nothing running my fingernail over them, amazing work.

The blade is razor sharp, and an extremely complex raindrop pattern, in fact, Terry made the billet at Jerry Fisk's place. I don't really know how to describe it, but it has that forged, Mastersmith kind of look, like something from Jerry, Williams or Dean, as opposed to the more "perfect", but somewhat sterile raindrop patterns you would see from guys like Norris or Thomas. The grinds are dead on, and the edge is uniformly razor sharp from choil to tip.

The stainless double guard is flawlessly satin finished, and, the seam where the blade fits into the guard is 100% PERFECT! That is one of my biggest peeves, I have been disappointed so many times in this regard, by knives that cost a lot more, and from some of the top makers, here, Terry worked a near miracle, I have never seen such a perfect fit of blade to guard.

The walnut handle, besides being the nicest quality walnut I've seen, is so perfectly mortised, you can't feel the slightest seam where the 2 halves are joined.

I could go on about how amazing this bowie is, but I'll let the pics take it from here.

Thanks Terry, you are my hero. :)

Thanks, but I think you have that backwards. :)

Terry is without a doubt one of the best, Jerry taught him well, maybe too well... :)

"Ker-thunk!!!

Was that the sound of a gauntlett being thrown down? ;)

Seriously though Don, what good is the walnut if you don't know how to make a bowie? :) Maybe Terry will throw you a few pointers... :)

Yes, YES....Tremendous work,Terry.
Congratulations.

Ari, you're just lucky I was broke when Terry was offering that knife to me! :p :)

That is some awesome looking walnut. Have you put any Ren wax on it yet? In my opinion, no wood looks it's best until you've put Ren wax on it.

Looks great. I'm glad to see that you were able to get yourself such a fine knife. The fact that you got a fabulous deal is a good thing as well.

The fit on that guard looks incredible (rest of the knife ain't bad either :D) - Terry, if you read this, am I correct in thinking that is a solderless joint? If so is there a lip at the base of the blade, or recess in the guard to match up against, or is a pure butt joint? The precision is outstanding.

Stunning knife! Terry's work just gets better and better.

Whoever had to let that knife go must be kicking themselves now. I know I would be.

WOW! That is a beautiful Bowie. The lines are very appealing to my eye. Ari, you definately scored on this one! :D

You were very lucky to get this one. It's a screamer.

Thanks Joss, you know, I wouldnt even trade it for your Fogg integral, well, OK, if you insist... :)

Thanks all, most of all, thanks to Terry who had a little something to do with it... :)

Beautiful knife Ari ! I get a kick out of looking at your collection page, everthing is maked "NFS" (not for sale) or "SOLD" (hee hee). Crazy knife guy.

Kevin, you got me. :) I actually, right up until a few days ago, always had everything marked NFS because of course, they're not, they're my collection, but, when I do sell or trade one, I just have taken it off the page, but lately, I sold and traded a few of my really nice ones, like the Fisk and others, and I couldn't bear to not have them on the page, so, I changed my policy and marked them SOLD.

I realize it seems odd to have them marked NFS, then sold, but that's why. :)

I know how it is Ari, just kidding with you, I just sold one of my favorite knives to pay for incoming, and bought two more knives that were such a good deal I couldn't pass them up. Now still have to figure out a way to pay for the incoming knives again.

I'd say this is just about my favorite Primos to date - maybe a tie with that gorgeous slim-bladed damascus / ivory rifleman's knife he did a while back. Can't wait 'til Terry gets to my name on his list. Great work Terry, and super buy Ari!

Wow. I sure appreciate the compliments guys. Sorry to be so late responding. I just got back last night from the Hammer-in at Old Washington, Arkansas.

Megalobyte,
I'm honored to receive such a rave review. The perfect knife of course still evades me, so I have to settle for just doing the best that I can at my current skill level. As far as the parts that I get right, well all the credit goes to those who through the years have tried so hard to teach me how to get it right. Beyond that I can take the "blame" for my shortcomings.

What I look forward to is the day when you can look at this Bowie, laugh, and say "I remember back when this was the best he could do". Thanks again for the great writeup, and I hope that the Bowie will serve you well.

Stephen,
Yes, it's a solderless guard. The back of the ricasso is squared up with a file to flush up with the face of the guard.
